Android 5.0 Lollipop Coming to OnePlus One Soon!

OnePlus made a whale of a surprise last year when it launched an Android smartphone called One that made a big splash in the market, specifications and sales wise.

While Android handset manufacturers launched a variety of smartphones in 2014, only a couple of flagship devices stand out from those new entrants to the market.

It was rather easy for tech companies like Sony, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, among others to come up a new smartphone devices on a regular basis. But for a small and fledgling company like OnePlus to produce a handset that would give every other company the fits in competition, now that’s something.

That was what the OnePlus One smartphone did. It did not just steal the thunder from some of the flagship handsets released by known tech companies last year, it actually pulled the plug from under them in terms of sales and phone features, earning the verbal distinction as “the most exciting Android phone of 2014.”

BGR notes that with its surprising launch last year, OnePlus One became the first non-Nexus top Android handset that was sold at a comparatively lower price than what competition offers.

In fact, OnePlus One was so successful that the small Chinese company was eventually branded as the 2014 makers of the most exciting Android phone.

Another looming surprise

For 2015, it looks like OnePlus One would pull off another surprise. It seems that it would be soon be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop, way ahead of other flagship smartphone devices.

When it was launched last year, OnePlus One was running with Cyanogen’s version of the Android. But it seems that OnePlus and Cyanogen’s have decided to part ways and the Chinese smartphone maker is ready with its own team of software engineer to take on the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

For sure, the most exciting smartphone of 2014 would only get better when it gets a taste of the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

A team from OnePlus has been trying out an alpha version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop on One and they are promising this early to deliver a customizable, simple, bloat-free experience, that consumers would not settle for anything less.

OnePlus cooking up something

Meanwhile, in an earlier BGR report, OnePlus was said to be working on launching its new line of smartphone, which according to some leaks, sports impressive features and a price that is said to be even lower than the already affordable OnePlus One.

Initial reports obtained from a Chinese blog say that the next smartphone from the small Chinese phonemaker could be called OnePlus One Mini or OnePlus Two.

OnePlus One

Initial leaks of the upcoming OnePlus smartphone indicate that it will have a 5-inch touch screen display, a Quad-core Snapdragon 615 processor, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Leaked images also show that it would likely run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat but there’s a good chance that it would take on Android 5.0 Lollipop especially if its predecessor proved successful using it. The most interesting leak of all is that the new OnePlus smartphone is said to be priced at around $250 only.
