Filming for “American Horror Story: Hotel” begun on July 14 in Los Angeles, California, where the first two seasons of AHS were also filmed. Judging by the location of the series, speculations from fans are now running wild claiming that the plot of “Hotel” will be loosely based on the infamous real-life Cecil Hotel.
The hotel in downtown Los Angeles, now rebranded as Stay on Main, is known for its criminal and paranormal history. It was where 21-year-old Canadian student Elisa Lam stayed before she was found dead in the hotel’s water tank in the rooftop on February 2013. Surveillance videos show Elisa having bizarre actions, evidently talking and hiding from someone unseen in the elevator before totally disappearing.
Hotel Cecile was also the hotel where Beth Short a.k.a Black Dahlia checked in before her merciless murder in 1947. If claims are authentic, then it would make sense why a dummy set of the hotel showing an art deco style building from the old Hollywood era was presented at ComicCon 2015 as Short was an up-and-coming actress at the time of her death.
Cecil Hotel was also where serial killers Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger stayed in when they were actively murdering people. “American Horror Story: Hotel” will air in October 2015 for a 13-episode order for Season 5. The premiere episode for the fifth season is aptly-titled “Checking In.”
