Supermodel Naomi Campbell has officially checked in at the upcoming fifth season of Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology TV series, “American Horror Story: Hotel.”
According to Crossmap, the 45-year-old model will be portraying a fashion editor who will pay the ultimate price for her critiques. The fashion icon will also have major conflicts with Lady Gaga’s character.
The “Born this Way” singer is reported to have a murderous role in the series and she is said to be involved in the fashion industry. According to reports, Campbell, known for her fierce temper, could surely apply it to her role as she might not stand a chance to Gaga’s malevolent character.
This isn’t the first time the famous model will embark into acting. She recently had a recurring role in the first season of Fox’s “Empire,” but for the “Poker Face” hitmaker, “American Horror Story: Hotel” will mark her first-ever venture into acting. A few months ago, the controversial Caitlyn Jenner was rumored to be tapped by Murphy to take up a role opposite Gaga, but it looks like Ms. Caitlyn declined the offer.
As per TV Line, Campbell is set to start filming next week as part of her multi-episode arc. She is the third AHS newbie who will be featured this season after Lady Gaga and New Girl’s Max Greenfield. During this year’s ComicCon, producers of the show confirmed that joining the three rookies are AHS alums Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, and Matt Bomer.
Murphy also confirmed that once Emma Roberts finishes her work for the upcoming TV series “Scream Queens,” she will be returning for a few episodes near the end Season 5.
“AHS: Hotel” will mark the first season in which screen legend Jessica Lange will not star. During this year’s PaleyFest, producers of the show confirmed the exit of the 66-year-old veteran actress from the series.
Show creator Murphy has already disclosed that “AHS: Hotel” will not witness the Mother Monster render her singing voice, but it will definitely flaunt a typically flamboyant wardrobe as the eccentric singer is known for. Aside from her silver claw in a 10-second teaser released last month, there is nothing fans know about the 29-year-old singer’s character in the series, let alone details of the upcoming season because it has been quite scarce as of late.
Wittrock and Bomer will be involved in a love triangle as they battle it out to win Lady Gaga’s affections. Despite currently starring in ABC’s “The Whispers,” the latest season will also see the return of Lily Rabe as a famous serial killer who is staying in the titular hotel as per Breathecast. The 33-year-old actress has previously appeared in all the past four seasons of the show but portraying different characters.
The blonde beauty played by Nora Montgomery in Season 1 offered a great rendition of her song as Sister Mary Eunice in Season 2 which she later reprised in Season 4. During the show’s third season, she was cast as a resurgent named Misty Day. Rabe, Paulson, and Peters are the only three actors to have appeared so far in all of the show’s seasons.
Plot details about the 5th season of the hit horror anthology is yet to come out but Murphy recently told Deadline that this season, AHS will be a straight horror this time, being bloodier and grislier than any other season fans have watched.
The latest entry to the hit series will revolve around eerie and horrifying things that happen in real-life hotels. According to Murphy, the theme of the series this season is something that’s very close to his heart, adding it was always an idea that he had in mind, he just wanted to find the right vehicle that will make it appear horror-based, darker, and grimier.
