Information about “Alien 5” has been thin as a whole as Blomkamp has been carefully controlling any new releases of materials or rumors. Of course, nobody can prevent the occasional leak, and it’s true that “Alien 5” has been surrounded by a lot of speculation over certain things that we’ve seen about the film over the months.
And even though we don’t know much about the film in the official sense, it’s still shaping up to be an amazing release just from what we’ve heard so far, so all fans of the “Alien” franchise would probably be smart to pay close attention to it.
Especially those who were dissatisfied with the way the franchise was developed after the first two films, as Blomkamp is apparently specifically trying to avoid the troubles caused by those.
He’s on the same page as the franchise’s community when it comes to the quality of those releases, convinced that they should be ignored for the better of the “Alien” series. He’s going to try developing a new trilogy with the first two films and his new installment, which may or may not work out in a way that pleases the fans – but in either case, it will at least be a bold move that has the potential to redefine the franchise in a positive way, and the director deserves admiration for attempting it.
