Not even a bout with laryngitis can stop Luke Hemmings from performing well with his Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) during the Paris leg of their concert tour on May 22.
Despite being diagnosed with the mild disease before the night of their concert in Paris, France, Luke Hemmings powered through to give great live performances, much to the delight of the cheering French crowd.
The 18-year-old vocalist looks fine but he did take a rest after 5 SOS performed at the BBC Radio 1 gig the following day. The band even shared a photo of Luke on stage on its Twitter account during the Paris concert with his bandmate Ashton Irwin. He looks fine and energized while he was performing as if he is not suffering at all from laryngitis.
Hemmings later on confirmed that he was diagnosed by a French doctor earlier in the day that he had laryngitis. He was eating chicken alphabet soup during the morning of their Paris concert night in the hopes of feeling better. Obviously he was already feeling better during their concert and it was quite evident with his superb and gallant performance, notes Enstarz.
On tour
5 Seconds of Summer has been on tour since May 4, making stops all over Europe. Their Paris leg of their European concert tour was last Friday, May 22.
The rock group then took part in the BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Saturday in Norwich, England. Eventually, the 5SOS vocalist admitted after the weekend gig that he was already feeling under the weather, which he said via his Twitter account.
The laryngitis has already fully set in that time and the good news is that they are true with their contractual obligations after the weekend.
Despite already feeling ill during their Paris concert, Luke Hemmings still did not sound like he was straining his voice so much.
The good news for him is that their next concert tour is in Dublin, Ireland on May 28 so Luke still has plenty of time in between to rest his voice and himself before performing again in front of cheering crowd in yet another sold-out show.
No girlfriend rule
The Australian rock group has a self-imposed no-girlfriend rule on its members before they officially release their new album.
However, band members Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood have recently gone into relationships and now have their respective girlfriends, leaving Luke Hemmings, the most popular member of the 5SOS, solely holding on to the rock group’s no-girlfriend rule.
