EA and DICE have been very quiet about the upcoming “Star Wars: Battlefront 3”, and most of the information that has come out about the game so far has been in the form of rumors. Understandably, fans have been eager to find out more, but the publisher has been very tight-lipped about the new production. However, this might change soon, as rumors indicate that a trailer for the game will be shown at the upcoming Game Developers Conference, and not just any random trailer – a major, 15-minute one, showing various important details about the upcoming game.
What will this trailer show? Most game trailers are traditionally 2-3 minutes long, and when something is over 10 minutes, it usually points to lengthy clips of gameplay footage, so it’s very likely that this could be a gameplay trailer. And if it is, it could show lots of interesting details about the game’s gameplay, environment, and technical capabilities.
It’s not yet known when the game will hit the market, as rumors about its release date contradict each other all the time. At some point, it was believed that we would see the new title sometime during the summer, but now the most prominent rumors are pointing towards December as the target for the game’s release. However, more recently, new information has come out that EA are trying to get the game out sooner, and are aiming for an earlier released date, sometime before December, and possibly even before Q4 2015.
This hasn’t been received positively by all fans though, as some have been worried that it could be an indication that EA are going to rush the release. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time – it’s one of the things that the company has been criticized for the most – but with this particular release, it would be especially disappointing. The “Battlefront” series has a special place in gamers’ hearts, and this game has been anticipated for a long time, so botching its release could spell disaster for EA and DICE alike.
Not to mention that they already have something to make up for to their fans after the release of “Battlefield 4”, which wasn’t met very positively due to being full of bugs and lacking polish in certain areas. It was rumored that EA were trying to get the game out the door as quickly as possible, pressuring DICE into releasing it faster, which was the main reason for its low quality. EA are known for being very strict about their release dates, so if they really do want to release “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” sooner than they had planned originally, this could possibly spell trouble for the franchise.
