Jeremy Lin Feels Happy and Appreciated as the Starting Point Guard and Designated Leader of the Brooklyn Nets Amid a Possible Losing NBA Season, More Details

The Brooklyn Nets is now sporting a 1-3 win-loss record in the young 2016-17 NBA Season. It started with a loss to the Boston Celtics before pulling off a surprise win over the Paul George-led Indiana Pacers before losing back-to-back against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls.

While the team lost by a mere two points to the Bucks, the Nets were completely dismantled by the Bulls at its home court with a 118-88 decimation that showed how the reorganized Brooklyn team has its hands full for the remainder of the season.

Critics are predicting that the Brooklyn Nets are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA in the current season and it is very unlikely for the team to make it to the playoffs even at the early goings of the regular season.

The Nets will be facing the Detroit Pistons in the Motor City on November 2 before Jeremy Lin makes his return to the Charlotte Hornets home floor on November 4. Based on its recent games, it is said that the Nets would be lucky to pull off a victory over the Pistons but they would certainly lose to the Hornets.

Natural as a starting point guard and a leader

Amid the prospect of a losing NBA season with the Brooklyn Nets, Jeremy Lin is now very happy and contented playing for his new team.

In a recent interview, he said that he is very excited to play the role of starting point guard with the Brooklyn Nets because he just feels natural about running the show for his team, reports the Nets Daily.

He explained that his few years in the NBA saw him playing in a backup position, and he believes that it is not who he was created to be as a player because that is not natural for him.

He is also happy that he is now being considered as the leader of the Brooklyn Nets and he appreciates the responsibility that the management, the coaching staff, and the players accorded him.

The 28-year-old Harvard graduate says that there is a lot more to be done to improve the Nets but he is optimistic that the team will get there eventually. As to whether he will still be around with the team by that time, it remains to be seen. After all, he only signed for a three-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets beginning with the current season.

Happy to be back in New York

He says that he is also happy that he is now back in New York after stops in Houston, Los Angeles, and Charlotte.

Lin explains that he always has a special connection with New York fans since his Linsanity days with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 NBA season and he just wished that it happened earlier, details Slam Online.

While center Brook Lopez is a former All-Star, it is Jeremy Lin who will be looked at as the face of the franchise, from the inside and out. And he’s definitely ready for the challenge.

He said that he is so excited for the role that he can’t even really explain just how happy he is now.

Noting the team’s 21-61 record last season, Lin said that he can tell there’s that disappointment from the past without meaning to disrespect anybody else who was in Brooklyn before, so he is looking more at it as a challenge of turning the fortunes of the team around.

The Brooklyn Nets surely don’t have championship expectations in 2016-17. Competing for a playoff spot in a suddenly crowded Eastern Conference is probably a stretch, too. But Jeremy Lin is at long last comfortably stable, both in spirit and in his situation.

He says that he is having a lot more fun through each day and he does smile a lot more now.

Lin also appreciates the support that fans have thrown at him since his days with the Knicks. He said that his story is so unique so there are people that always support different parts of his story.
