The suspense thriller drama TV series “The Following” on Fox has already ended in May 2015 after its Season 3 finale that left a cliffhanger, leaving fans dumbfounded and asking for a closure to the story.
As it has been over a year already since the show was canceled and there is no sight of a possible Season 4 rescue or revival from another network or a streaming service, it seems clear at this point that it is already the end of the road for “The Following.”
Versatile actor Kevin Bacon, who played the lead role in the TV series as FBI agent Ryan Hardy, may have felt regret for not getting a Season 4 and more importantly, a fitting end, to “The Following,” but as an artist, life has to move on for him.
Given his acting prowess, it was rather easy for Kevin Bacon to move past “The Following” as he got so busy with several film assignments.
Good in FBI agent role
To reinforce how well he plays as an FBI agent, Kevin Bacon was taken in to star in the Boston Marathon bombing movie “Patriots Day,” which was confirmed by producers CBS Films and Lionsgate Films last March.
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, and Bacon. It is to be directed by Peter Berg from a script by Matt Charman.
“Patriots Day” is scheduled to hit global theaters on December 21, 2016 and follows the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, which includes the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind the grisly massacre.
Kevin Bacon shall play the role of FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers who worked tirelessly as one of the key figures in the very sophisticated and complicated investigation.
Director Peter Berg said that Kevin Bacon possesses the intelligence and empathy to portray DesLauriers in “Patriots Day.”
Acting in a film with his wife in the director’s chair
Subsequently, Kevin Bacon has been confirmed to star also in a new film entitled “Story of a Girl” which is to become the directorial debut of his wife, Kyra Sedgwick.
The movie is set to have its filming in Vancouver, Canada and shall have its 2017 debut on the Lifetime network following the film’s festival run.
“Story of a Girl” is a powerful coming-of-age story about a teen who must deal with the ramifications of a sex video that goes viral. When a sex video of a 13-year-old Deanna Lambert and Tommy, her older brother’s best friend, hits the internet, her life of carefree innocence is changed forever.
After three years, Deanna continues to deal with the impact of the video, including being branded in the school as a slut and bearing the burden of the daily taunts from her classmates.
At home, her life is even more difficult as his father’s anger and disappointment over the incident has left him unable to look into his daughter’s eye. Deanna has since been longing to escape a life defined by the mistakes of her past.
Kyra Sedgwick was chosen to direct the film as part of Lifetime’s Broad Focus initiative to provide women with more opportunities to write, direct, and produce content for the network.
Incidentally, Kevin Bacon shall be returning to TV with the premiere of the 10-episode miniseries “Tremors” which will make its debut episode on Syfy on August 25, reports Fansided.
It was actually the actor who kicked off the “Tremors” franchise as the lead character in the first film shown in theaters some 26 years ago.
In an interview after he has been confirmed for the “Tremors” TV miniseries, Kevin Bacon said that he never thought that he would see himself playing the role of giant worm slayer Valentine McKee again.
