Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumored to Become the First Handset to Come Out with a 4K Display Capability!

Samsung has just wrested this year from Apple the title for the most number of flagship smartphones sold in the US which is a result of its groundbreaking Galaxy S6 launched last year and sustaining it with the remarkable Galaxy S7 officially unveiled in March of this year.

While Apple still has an ace on its sleeve with the forthcoming launching of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in September to perhaps end the year with a flourish, the Korean tech giant is already mapping out plans this early on how to build on the gains of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S7 with its forthcoming flagship smartphone next year, the Galaxy S8.

Based on the information that has been flooding the internet, the Galaxy S8 has plenty of groundbreaking features and it seems that the Korean tech giant is stepping on the pedal to ensure that it keeps the momentum of its sales supremacy with Apple going for a long while.

High among the rumors about the Galaxy S8 are reports that the smartphone shall become the first handset to come out with a 4K display capability, reports the Christian Times.

But these reports are mere speculation at this time pending the confirmation from Samsung, which is unlikely to do so, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Other groundbreaking features

There are also reports saying that the Galaxy S8 shall have a processor that is more powerful than that found under the hood of the Galaxy S7.

Thus, it is possible that it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 or later and perhaps its closest counterpart from Exynos.

The Galaxy S8 shall reportedly feature the revolutionary iris scanner which would be used to unlock the device and authenticate apps. The same feature is being reported to become the main feature of the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 phablet due to be launched by Samsung early next month.

In addition, there are also reports saying that the upcoming flagship smartphone of Galaxy S8 shall also feature a triple-camera system.

Because of its full 4K support, the Galaxy S8 shall come out with an improved display technology that will definitely be useful once the virtual reality (VR) system takes over the market not too long from now.

The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge still do not have the capability to support the whole functionality of VR.

A dual-screen feature

There are also rumors saying that the Galaxy S8 shall come out with a dual-screen design which stemmed from reports that Samsung has filed for a patent for such technological feature for its upcoming smartphone.

The patent has something to do with Samsung’s high-end smartphone that shall have two screens, one on either side of a built-in cover. The Korean tech giant also submitted a patent application for a smartphone that had two screens with a small seam in between, details Valuewalk.

Latest reports have it that Samsung has given up on the idea of dual screens which make up one large display. The company is reportedly now in favor of the new design, which makes the smartphone looking like a professional notebook aimed at executives, sales professionals, and students.

The traditional hinge shall enable the phone to weigh less and be slimmer. However, the design is said to be not present in the latest patent.

Reports have it that the dual-screen patent was originally submitted in the United States in November 2015. It is not clear whether or not such a handset will ever be produced.

Technology companies are constantly filing patents. There is no guarantee that patented designs will ever be seen on the market. Sometimes patents are filed simply to prevent competitors from using similar technology.

But in the case of Samsung’s filing, it would suggest that the Korean tech giant is very interested in developing a dual-screen smartphone.
