Game of Thrones Season 6 Finale May Give Fans Great Satisfaction More Than Cliffhangers!

With the superb penultimate episode of Season 6 of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” that aired on June 20 which had the millions of fans, viewers, and critics the world over talking about it more than the NBA Finals, everyone is now all set for the 10th and final episode of the show to air on June 27.

The Battle of the Bastards during episode 9 of Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” lived up to its hype and it is certainly the best episode of the TV series this season, or perhaps the entire six seasons.

With a gargantuan penultimate episode like that, it is imperative for the producers and showrunners to maintain the momentum in order to finish with a bang, the same way that “Game of Thrones” has been doing in its past five seasons.

Based on the trailer of the 10th episode of “Game of Thrones” entitled “The Winds of Winter,” the 69-minute Season 6 finale is likely to end on a high note and some critics are saying that it could actually give fans great satisfaction more than cliffhangers that would carry through to Season 7 next year.

Quenching the thirst for revenge

Based on the spoilers, Jamie Lannister and his army shall be celebrating with Walder Frey and his men for successfully taking back control of Riverrun without bloodshed. The scene actually resembles the Red Wedding when the Freys killed Catelyn Stark, Robb Stark, his pregnant wife, their unborn child, and most of their men in Season 3.

It is likely that the Kingslayer will return the favor and kill all the Freys the way they and the Boltons massacred the Starks.

Fans of “Game of Thrones” got their ultimate satisfaction during episode 9 when Sansa Stark fed a wounded and bloodied Ramsay Bolton to his own dogs. They are likely to get the same level of satisfaction once Jamie Lannister is done with the Freys.

The Season 6 finale is likely to provide an answer to who the real parents of Jon Snow are, which can be found out by Bran Stark in his flashback of the Tower of Joy in Dorne. It has been widely speculated online that Jon Snow is not the bastard son of Ned Stark but is actually the son of his sister Lyanna Stark and Rhaeger Targaryen, the brother of Daenerys, notes the USA Today.

When the young Ned Stark reached the Tower of Joy as seen by Bran in his flashback, he shall found his sister all bloodied after giving birth to Jon Snow. She would ask her brother to claim that Jon Snow is his son and keep the secret until he dies, which Ned surely did.

Another satisfaction that fans would likely get during the Season 6 finale is the decision of Daenerys and her army to move out of Mereen and map out a plan to sail to King’s Landing to finally lay her rightful claim to the Iron Throne.

But her arrival in King’s Landing may already happen in Season 7, or the showrunners could still opt to put that in the latter episode of the next season.

The questions that need to be answered

Now that Winterfell is back to the Starks, the big question is the deal that Peter Baelish worked out with Sansa to send the army of the Vale to the war with the Boltons in the last minute and rescued Jon Snow and his army from imminent defeat.

Many are speculating that it could be a possible marriage of Sansa with her cousin Robin Arryn of the Vale or a marriage of Sansa to Littlefinger himself.

Bran Stark shall also return to Winterfell just in time for the arrival of winter along with the coming of the Night King and his white walkers, which would be one of the cliffhangers for Season 7.

There is also Arya Stark who shall be returning to Winterfell from Braavos.

And there is also the plan of Queen Regent Cersei Lannister when she is tried by the High Sparrow in public especially when her son King Tommen already outlawed trial by combat and can no longer use The Mountain to save her.
