Bridget Moynahan’s Erin and Steve Schirripa’s Anthony are in for a tricky situation in the upcoming episode of “Blue Bloods” Season 6.
The penultimate episode of the CBS police drama will see the two spearhead their own manhunt operation when a key eyewitness in a murder trial flees out of fear of retaliation.
The episode, entitled “The Extra Mile” will see Erin and Anthony teaming up to search for the witness and persuade him to testify at the murder trial. But it won’t be that easy as the witness is afraid for his life.
In the episode’s promo, Erin is seen debating with Anthony about the importance of the witness. Erin says that the witness is the only chance to shed some light in the murder trial.
The key witness is also seen fleeing from place to place to escape the police’s eyes. Erin even drops by his home only to get door-slammed right on her face.
The last scene in the teaser shows Erin and Anthony begging the witness to testify at the trial and help them. The man then answers that he’s afraid that someone will be after him if he does and in turn asks for the help of the duo as well.
Fans say that the episode seemed like a bit toned down and predictable compared to the previous one. Some fans noted that since Erin and Anthony are very good at their jobs, they predict that the witness will eventually testify at the trial.
Also, the episode will see Gregory Jbara’s Garret attempt to convince Tom Selleck’s Frank to attend the Police Union party. Danny and Baez, played by Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez, respectively, will take a closer look at a suspicious convenience store robbery.
The police procedural drama will return with the remaining two episodes for its sixth season after a one-week hiatus, its last for the season.
Episode 20, entitled “Down the Rabbit Hole,” was a very intense episode as it saw the culmination of Danny and Wilder’s long-hated relationship.
The episode saw Danny being taunted when serial killer Thomas Wilder, played by Louis Cancelmi, attached a message to his latest victim. The message contains a threat to the lives of the Reagan family.
Fans may recall Wilder appearing in episode 8, where the entire NYPD went to a high alert status following the string of murders committed by the psychotic man.
What made Danny and Wilder’s situation worse was when the latter threatened the life of Danny’s family.
Their deadly game of cat and mouse was highlighted during the episode and it became too personal for Danny and the rest of the Reagan family. NYPD even went on high alert for protection as Danny’s niece, Nicky, had been abducted.
Meanwhile in the same episode, an Irish delegation also dropped by in town for the dedication of a statue for the cops.
Also, Erin got a personal request to look into the file of the murder of the father of one delegate. To her shock, it turns out that the father is actually alive and in Sing Sing.
According to Breathecast, the CBS police drama continues to soar high with its ratings especially when it nears its end.
Episode 20 garnered a commanding audience of 10.6 million when it aired last April 15 – an increase of 8% from the previous episode.
Deadline reports that it was the most-watched show of the night and even tied with ABC’s top-rated reality series “Shark Tank.”
The Futon Circle notes that episode 20 had a very interesting mix of turmoil and intensity as it told the story of a sadistic serial killer and a police officer who aim to protect his whole family.
