The initial limited release of “Tekken 7” was met with relatively good responses by players, and even though the game had some issues at first, the developers have been working hard to iron everything out. After all, that’s part of the reason for releasing the game in this manner in the first place, and so far Bandai Namco have been handling their work on the game quite well. An upcoming update titled “Fated Retribution” is about to bring some extra goodies for players to toy around with, so those who’re already feeling bored with the content the game has to offer may be excited to see what’s coming.
A recently revealed teaser for the update shows a new outfit for Heihachi Mishima, giving him a much more aggressive look. The fighter can be seen with a spiked shoulder guard on a black/orange best, and some players even claimed that the new look suits him far better than his original suit.
The update is far from a cosmetic one though, as it comes with various additions to the core gameplay that should generate some discussions among fans. A new fighter – Akuma – is being added, after initially being omitted from the roster. Many players were wondering if the character would be introduced to the game, as he has had a solid presence in many titles in the franchise, and it looks like Bandai Namco have been listening carefully.
Nina Williams is also coming back, another move which should definitely make many players happy, although we have very little information about how her character will work in the new game. Additionally, there are rumors indicating that some of the moves of other characters could be readjusted based on player feedback, but it remains to be seen what the developers could have in mind for the game’s balance.
At this point, only one major question remains for fans of the series – when exactly is the big update coming? Rumors about that are a bit conflicting, but the most prominent ones point towards July 2016, based on a listing in the popular site AM-Net. However, the legitimacy of this listing is under question and most publications are advising fans to just be patient and avoid following any of the major rumors for the time being.
Bandai Namco themselves have been relatively quiet regarding their release plans, but if they really are aiming for July, this gives them some extra time to readjust the game’s balance and introduce some last-minute tweaks. We expect that they will keep gathering feedback and analytics data from the limited release to build up an idea of how the game should be adjusted.
Players themselves have been very active in discussing the content available so far, and fan forums are buzzing with activity on a regular basis. There is a lot of discussion on some aesthetic aspects as well, as not everyone is focused on the actual gameplay.
There are entire threads revolving around the art of the game, for example, with many players giving their feedback on the way the current characters, sets, and overall atmosphere look. Most are happy with the artistic direction of the game, but at the same time it looks like some players would enjoy a grittier, bloodier approach to the graphics. “Tekken” has traditionally always been a violent franchise, but it also always tries to balance that with aesthetically pleasing scenes and beautiful effects.
