Samsung Galaxy S6 is Undoubtedly and Unarguably the Android Smartphone to Beat in 2015!

Samsung may have unveiled its latest flagship smartphones for this year, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, but until those handsets officially make it to the markets this coming March, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge still hold the title as the current best from the Korean tech giant.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is undoubtedly and unarguably the Android smartphone to beat for the entire 2015 and it seems that there is yet a handset to overcome it up until the unveiling of the Galaxy S7 before the start of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 on February 21.

Because of its worldly looks and top-notch specifications and features, the Galaxy S6 has been regarded by critics as impressive and really has the lock on the best Android smartphone last year, reports C/Net.

The smartphone has raised the design from the lackluster Galaxy S5, making the Galaxy S6 truly an upscale handset with its smooth glass-and-matte metal body, improved fingerprint reader, and new camera shortcut key.

Samsung has also done away with all the apps clutter on its flagship smartphone, making the handset a stunner both inside and out.

Based on critics’ review of the Galaxy S6, it actually got an 8.9 overall rating based on five aspects including battery life, features, design, camera, and performance.

It had lows of 8.0 rating for its battery life and camera. The non-removable battery and the absence of expandable storage via the traditional microSD card slot have become the major downsides of the Galaxy S6 as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge.

While the non-removable battery was merely a take-off from Apple’s iPhone, Samsung users did not appreciate such design gesture.

Leaving the Galaxy S5 DNA behind

The Galaxy S5 was a major disappointment not only for consumers but also for Samsung itself. That is why when the Galaxy S6 was put on the drawing board, it has certainly left much of the Galaxy S5 DNA behind it.

The Galaxy S6 was good enough to win back for Samsung consumers who were strayed as a result of the poor showing of the Galaxy S5.

The even better news is that the Galaxy S6 was able to reverse Samsung’s sagging smartphone sales with its groundbreaking looks and features.

The 2015 flagship smartphone of Samsung proves that the Korean tech giant can stand toe-to-toe with Apple iPhone not only in terms of hardware but also physical design too. The groundbreaking features of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge seek to sustain that very soon.

Marshmallow update in Canada

Telus, a Canadian carrier, is about to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge on March 9, which is just two days before its successors, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge officially make it to the Korean and US retail markets.

Sometime in mid-February, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge have been upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in some parts of the world and the update will finally arrive to Canadian users in less than 10 days time, cites Neurogadget.

The update shall likewise come to Telus users of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 phablet, which were both launched in the second half of last year.

The Marshmallow update comes with many cool features that are meant to extend battery life, better app permissions, fingerprint support, among many others. Samsung has also added its own changes to the OS. Two of the most useful features of the Marshmallow update on the devices from Samsung are the Samsung Internet 4.0, which offers better privacy and functionality from the native Samsung browser than ever, and the Cross App, which enables users to access their most useful apps while inside their messaging program.
