A lot has happened in “The Originals” recently, and the latest development on the show weren’t exactly positive. Klaus in particular ended up suffering a lot, and it looks like his character will be deeply affected by what happened to him, to the extent that he will seek to get revenge in a brutal way. After Cami was killed, it was obvious that we would be seeing Klaus on the screen in some darker contexts, and now it’s being rumored that the writers of the show have a particularly strong arc in mind for him over the next few episodes.
We recently saw a preview for the show’s upcoming episodes, and there it was implied that Klaus will be seeking revenge for losing someone he loved, and for the way him and the rest are being attacked in general. He also insisted that he must deliver a swift and brutal vengeance to those responsible, so it does sound like we are going to see Klaus in a bad mood for a while, to say the least.
And while Klaus will be shown killing off vampire after vampire with no hesitation and no regard for them, it looks like he will have a particular target in mind, Aurora who was directly responsible for the death of Cami. The relationship between Klaus and Aurora has been the subject of a lot of discussion among fans, and it was clear that things would reach a melting point sooner or later, although not many people expected that it would turn out in this way specifically, and that Klaus would have to endure such a loss before he pushes against Aurora in any serious way.
The way Cami was killed was particularly bad, as there was a lot of building up to the scene in the way of strengthening the relationship between her and Klaus, and in the end the actual way in which she was killed off was very hurtful to Klaus. The writers put the character in a really bad situation, and it was obvious that they are setting him up to go on a rampage – or worse – so hopefully they are also planning to bring him back down more gracefully instead of breaking his character.
That’s also something that fans have been theorizing about and it is a possibility that this could all be leading up to the downfall of Klaus. It’s a standard plot device when there is a need for an antihero with a strong background in the story, and while this is of course still just a guess by the fans, it’s not something we would put past the producers of “The Originals”. After everything we’ve seen in the show so far, it’s clear that the writers are willing to go to great lengths to develop their characters in more interesting ways and to create situations which put everyone in a difficult spot that reveals something about them that we didn’t suspect before.
With that in mind, it’s possible that Klaus could end up being well suited for a development like this, but let’s not jump to any harsh conclusions before the next episode of the show has aired. With the way “The Originals” has been run before, we wouldn’t be surprised if the producers are just using all of this as a ruse to mislead their fans and trick them into thinking in the exact opposite direction of what’s about to happen. It would be in their style entirely.
