2015 was an interesting year for Apple fans, although not entirely in the positive way. On one hand, there were several exciting announcements from the tech giant which quickly made the news, but on the other, people didn’t get some specific pieces of news that they were expecting to see. Among those, the absence of the iPad Air 3 is still very noticeable, and it’s not clear what the company is planning for the device right now. Of course, there are plenty of rumors about it all around, and some are convinced that this will actually be a very important release for the company.
The iPad Air 3 was supposed to come out by the end of this year, according to many predictions, but the company didn’t even mention the device in their official announcements which led many to believe that they are actually not very far ahead in its development. There were also some rumors that the device was indeed being prepared for 2015, but Apple saw the year as somewhat unfavorable for a release like this and decided to postpone it.
That would be strange, considering that many people had high expectations for the iPad Air 3 coming out during 2015, and on the other hand there wasn’t that much potentially serious competition for the device either. According to many experts, it would have actually been a good time to bring the tablet out on the market, but then again Apple have their own team of analysts who are dedicated to following the market and figuring these things out, so we trust that they knew what they were doing.
There are also rumors that the iPad Air 3 won’t be the only important release by Apple during 2016, and we might also see successors to other popular devices by them. Among those, we’ve heard talks about a new iPhone, possibly in several variants. If that turns out to be true then it would make 2016 a very interesting year for fans of mobile gadgets, especially those with an affinity towards Apple.
On the other hand, there are also some rumors that 2016 could be an uneventful year for fans of mobile phones, as the market is expected to start shrinking to some extent. Opinions on this prediction are somewhat split, but some are indeed convinced that we could see a serious decline in interest towards smartphones in a few months. According to those speculations, the devices could end up getting replaced by a variety of other kinds of gadgets, such as smartwatches and tablets. Wearable technology is becoming more and more prominent and it could easily turn out to be the way of the future, but it’s probably too early to make brave predictions like that, especially when the market for smartphones is still in such an active, constantly evolving phase. If its decline is indeed coming, it probably won’t arrive anytime soon and the next few years should be safe.
Or at least that’s what the more optimistic predictions are saying, but as we said above, people are quite split in their thoughts about the state of the smartphone market, so the next few months could be filled with lots of unknowns. If Apple are indeed planning to make a new smartphone release though, then they obviously see a lot of potential left in that market so it’s probably safe to release major devices in that area still, at least for some more time.
