The fourth season of “Orange is the New Black” won’t come out until next year, but speculations about what the upcoming season will bring are already making the rounds on the internet.
The latest rumors say that Season 4 will see Piper Chapman and Larry Bloom reuniting. In Season 1, the pair, played by Taylor Schilling and Jason Biggs, were introduced as a couple engaged to be married.
The second season saw the two calling off their wedding and breaking up as Piper found herself falling for Laura Prepon’s Alex while Larry fell for Piper’s best friend Polly Harper, portrayed by Maria Dizzia.
In Season 3, Larry was out of the picture and wasn’t even mentioned at all. But Piper and Alex’s relationship reached a lot of turning points last season which raises the question: Will Larry and Piper get back together next season?
According to iDigital Times, while Piper and Alex make a great pair, it’s still too soon to rule out Larry from the picture especially when the Netflix series is based on the true story of Piper Kerman, who ended up marrying the real-life Larry in 2006. The show might take creative liberty and change who Piper ends up with, but the point remains that there’s still hope for Larry.
What’s more interesting is that Biggs has been very vocal that he would come back and reprise his role in “Orange is the New Black” in a heartbeat. Speaking to Huffington Post, the 36-year-old actor says that the critically-acclaimed web series has a lot of characters to service and at the end of the day, it revolves around the Litchfield inmates.
Biggs says that his character is not a woman or in prison although the great thing about it is that the possibility for Larry to return is always there and he would gladly return once he gets an invite.
Furthermore, what happened to Alex in the season finale opens the door for Piper’s ex-fiance to make a comeback. During the Season 3 finale, Alex is cornered in the garden shed by an anonymous attacker and fans were left to guess what happened to her.
Prepon then teased fans by posting a photo on Instagram of herself holding a Litchfield prison ID. Her post suggests that Alex survived the attack. However, it is still yet to be known if she suffered severe injuries.
The fourth season of the Emmy-award winning series was sealed two months before the third season premiered last June.
According to Ecumenical News, Matt McGorry’s character, Josh Bennett, might also come back in Season 4. Speaking to Yahoo, McGorry says that he does not have the slightest idea whether or not Bennett will come back.
However, he is hoping that he would so that Bennett can justify his actions. Matt adds that he hopes his character will come through and be the man everyone expects him to be.
Last season, Bennett made a surprise act when he decided to run away from Dasha Polanco’s Daya Diaz, who was pregnant with his child.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Polanco dishes that she actually wants Daya and Josh to end up together but that may not be simple. The 32-year-old actress says that as much as she loves to see that happy ending for her character, Bennett walked out of her life and her main priority right now is her child.
She adds that when she read the script about Daya and Josh’s breakup, she was sad and proud. Her character wanted to live a fairytale, but she’s in jail so there’s kind of a missed point in there.
Meanwhile, the Vine Report states that a new love interest for Uzo Aduba’s Suzanne a.k.a. Crazy Eyes is in store in the upcoming season. Fans of the show were quick to notice that there seemed to be a strong connection between Crazy Eyes and Maureen, played by Emily Althaus, although it didn’t lead into something more.
When asked about the future of the two, Aduba said that she cannot reveal any information which allowed fans to interpret that the romance between the pair will finally head to something real next season.
