Apple iPhone 6S to Be Slightly Thicker than iPhone 6; American Tech Giant Have Valid Reasons for It!

Invitations have been out for Apple’s next iPhone launch happening on September 9. While the Cupertino-based company has been mum about the details of their upcoming flagship smartphones, word is out that the next iPhones will indeed be thicker than its predecessors.

Some reports claim that the latest iPhone models will carry the name iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but most tech analysts assume that the upcoming devices will be likely called iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

News about a larger iPhones coming out this year has been floating around for months and MacRumors has been the first source to fully attain a fully assembled iPhone 6S. The website confirms that iPhone 6S will feature a larger chassis than the previous model.

Despite Apple’s trademark of creating thinner iPhones every year, the latest iPhone model will sport a 138.19 x 67.68 x 7.08 mm measurement, obviously thicker than the iPhone 6 measurements of 138.1x 67 x 6.9 mm reports say.

The size increase is highly due to the switch to 7000 Series aluminum. Last year, the biggest controversy on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 was something to do with bendgate. By switching to a more durable metal design, the sturdy construction eliminates any chance for the bendgate issue to occur again.

The second reason is due to the integration of the new Force Touch sensor. Force Touch enables the devices to identify the difference between a light and strong touch. This feature is already present on the Apple Watch and the Macbook’s trackpad so the inclusion of this in the latest iPhone was clearly expected.

The great news, however, is that the size change for the latest iPhone shouldn’t come too noticeable for users albeit equating to a 3% overall increase in size. The iPhone 6S will tip the scales at about 133 grams compared to the iPhone 6’s 129 grams.

A regular criticism placed on smartphone makers right now is that phones have become too thin so this change of trend seems like a great way to reinvent Apple’s iPhone lines.

MacRumors also reports that iPhone 6S Plus, another flagship device launching back-to-back with iPhone 6S, will also receive a slightly thicker treatment. The iPhone 6S Plus reportedly is moving to 7.3 mm from iPhone 6’s 7.1 mm.

The change in size may be the highlight of this year’s newest iPhones, but Apple surely has a lot more improvements and tweaks in store for their loyal users.

According to Economic Times, the latest iPhones have upgraded to quad-core processors with 2GB RAM compared to last year’s models having dual core processor with 1GB RAM. This might be a possibility as competition has now moved up to octa-core processors with up to 4GB of RAM and Apple will definitely be playing catch up with this innovation.

Camera-wise, Apple will continue to give its users the best experience while taking pictures and videos. Reports suggest that iPhone 6S will have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and 4K video recording. The front-facing camera is expected to be upgraded to 5 megapixels, enough to take high-quality selfies.

Rumors about the upcoming model’s battery have been divided. iPhone 6 carries a 1,810 mAh battery while iPhone 6 Plus had a 2,915 mAh battery.

While most reports say that the iPhone 6S will sport a better battery than its predecessor, a number of reports suggest that leaked images of the latest model imply that the phone will only carry a 1,715 mAh battery. However, Alphr claims that it is unlikely that Apple would do anything that will compromise the overall battery life of the iPhone.

Wireless charging is likely to be another feature added into the upcoming iPhones. This would be a welcome addition not just to users but also to accessory manufacturers.
