Despite overwhelming fan clamor and excitement over the release of the highly anticipated crossover role-playing game “Kingdom Hearts 3” on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC, game developer Square Enix is not about to give in to the emotions of gamers.
If any, the unravelling of the gameplay trailer of “Kingdom Hearts 3” during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held in June, only heightened the excitement and anticipation of fans to the game after seeing how it was a visual feast to the eyes and how excellent its gameplay is.
Fans were actually expecting that Square Enix would again showcase “Kingdom Hearts 3” at the just concluded Gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany but got surprised when it did not happen.
Now, they are looking forward to the appearance of the game at the upcoming D23 Expo to be held at Anaheim, California on August 14 to 16.
Game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed during the E3 2015 that “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be released early next year, but there was no specific date mentioned as to when the video game will exactly hit the video game shelves.
Focusing on quality
Nomura also disclosed that development of the game is pretty much close to being complete but they are still fine-tuning other resources and mass elements to ensure that the game really comes out as an HD title, which would further highlight its superb visuals and graphics, notes Latinos Post.
The director said that, for the most part, the development team has established the ground foundations including the basic systems and mechanics of what is going to happen in the game.
He added that they are now building the resources and the mass elements that go into the game including the mini-games, and other various small items.
The progress in each aspect is very varied because some of them are already polished and very close to their final state while other elements are still in the planning phase. Nomura admitted that he has not laid out the groundwork yet.
What not to expect
During the E3 2015 presentation of Square Enix for “Kingdom Hearts 3,” Nomura also spoke about the Disney-themed worlds that would be featured in the game including “Tangled” and “Hercules.”
That being said, Nomura did speak with some certainty as to the Disney-themed worlds “Kingdom Hearts III” won’t contain. He wasn’t able to confirm any new additions beyond the “Tangled” as well as the Olympus Coliseum locales that were shown in “Hercules.”
He said that his two favorite past creations for the game, “The Pride Lands” and “Halloweentown” would not make it into the final game.
Nomura said that Square Enix would rather focus on featuring new Disney properties rather than ones that have been rendered before. But the statement does not guarantee that films like “Frozen” or “Star Wars” will be used in the role-playing game.
The third iteration of the “Kingdom Hearts” video game franchise shall have the characters and world of “Tangled” crossing over to the game that features Sora as well as Donald Duck, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse.
Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that it is Rapunzel of “Tangled” who will be the official Disney character and world that shall cross over to “Kingdom Hearts 3.”
Nomura explained that they want to polish up everything and ensure that it meets their own standards first before they bring it to Disney for approval. The process now is quite different from before because the animation studios are already involved. He added that Square Enix wanted to make sure that they can realize the vision for the hair of Rapunzel in “Tangled” given its uniqueness before seeking Disney’s thumbs up for it.
During Square Enix presentation of the trailer of “Kingdom Hearts 3” at the E3 2015, it was clearly shown that the visual aspects of the game have greatly evolved a lot vis-à-vis “Kingdom Hearts 2.”
