Game developer Naughty Dog has been receiving plenty of praises for the seven-minute demo trailer of the open-world action adventure third-person shooter video game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” that it showed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 in June.
Critics and gamers were quite impressed with the video game’s level of intensity as well as the visual feasts that it offered.
Instead of taking the credit for the marked improvement in the visuals and graphics of the game, Naughty Dog is actually candid enough to admit that it is actually because of the power of the PlayStation 4 that enabled “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” to have that really superb visuals.
Community Strategist Arne Meyer disclosed that they saw a glimpse of what was possible with games on the PlayStation 4 when they developed “The Last of Us Remastered” and they were excited of what they can do when they fully focused on developing a game from the ground up for the system, notes Attack of the Fanboy.
He said that Naughty Dog has able to do all the things that are quite expected including the increase in resolution to 1080p from the previous generation, increased polygon count for its models, more advanced shader techniques, new and expanded gameplay mechanics, among others. Best of all, the developer was able to render the cinematic scenes of the game in real-time.
Meyer said that Naughty Dog has been pressuring itself whenever it is working on a new game. The idea is to make the gameplay and performance of the technology better than what was achieved before. It gives the developer motivation to make each new game better than the last one. That was what it did for “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”
Background details
Meyer also elaborated on some background details of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.” He disclosed that the fourth and final iteration to the “Uncharted” franchise is set three years after “Uncharted 3.”
Nathan Drake, the game’s protagonist, is no longer a fortune or treasure hunter and is now doing something which is technically more safer, notes Gaming Bolt.
But Drake is drawn into one last adventure when his brother Sam came into the picture. The adventure will take him across the globe to many different locations, including Madagascar in Africa.
“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” is due to hit the PlayStation 4 exclusively come the spring of 2016 and Meyer expects that gamers would be there to appreciate the excellent gameplay and the superb visuals.
A follow-up trailer
After showcasing the game’s demo trailer at the E3 2015, game publisher Sony Computer Entertainment followed it up by releasing a 15-minute gameplay that pretty much reaffirmed why the “Uncharted” series is the flagship video game franchise of the PlayStation gaming console.
The playthrough trailer of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” is quite gorgeous because it practically showed why millions of PlayStation gamers have fell in love with the video game franchise.
The “Uncharted” video games series is to gaming as “Indiana Jones” is to film. That’s because game protagonist Nathan Drakes continuously explores his world the way archaeologist Dr. Indie Jones does it with ancient relics.
The main difference is that fans can only watch Dr. Jones do his stuff while they can actually get to experience Drake’s adventures first-hand via the “Uncharted” video game.
While both Naughty Dog and Sony have yet to come up with a statement or announcement regarding the specific release date of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” it is expected that the game would be launch and released next year exclusively on Sony’s next generation gaming console.
