We have no idea when the main trailer for “House of Cards” season 4 is going to come out, but there have been some rumors that a smaller teaser might be released before that, showing some details of the new season. We don’t know if that’s true however, nor when the rumored trailer is supposed to be released. Many fans are hopeful that they would get a chance to take a sneak peek at the new plot in advance, and while that would indeed be great, we can’t really confirm it right now.
Other than that, it’s expected that the “main” trailer for season 4 is going to come out in February 2016. This hasn’t been confirmed officially so far, but it’s speculated to be the release date judging by the schedule of the show so far. Previously we’ve seen trailers for the other seasons at around the same time, so it would make sense for season 4 to be previewed then as well.
We also have rumors about Doug Stamper being killed off in season 4, and those have been getting more and more prominent lately. It looks like the character really does have something coming his way, but we aren’t sure how his death is going to be approached.
Michael Kelly, who plays the role of the character, hasn’t revealed anything himself and we don’t know if he’s even aware of what’s planned for his character. But according to him, Beau Willimon who heads the production of the show is “anything but predictable”, so it looks like he himself is bracing for some scary developments for his character.
He did confirm that he was alive at the end of season 3, but he also claimed that he didn’t want to reveal anything as he had no idea what Willimon was planning for him. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Beau was behind my bedroom door right now”, he added as a joke, claiming that he would put nothing past Willimon.
And for what it’s worth, Kelly seems well aware of the show’s tendency to dispose of its characters from time to time. He understands that he has a major role in the production and his character is quite important in general, but on the other hand, he also sounds ready to face the reality that he might perish if the new season calls for it.
He previously admitted that his character will always be vulnerable, reminding people that they were talking about “House of Cards”, a show that doesn’t hesitate to kill off “great” characters. If he does get killed though, we at least expect that this would be done in a way that contributes something significant to the plot.
His character is very important to the overall progression of the storyline, even if he’s missing from the action occasionally, so if he gets removed from the equation, the writers should definitely have someone else lined up to replace him right away and fill the inevitable void that will be left in the episodes.
What kind of character could be brought in to replace Doug Stamper? Considering his role, he could actually be taken over by some of the already existing characters in the storyline, but of course it would always be much more interesting to see someone entirely new introduced to the show. It’s a new season, and it’s one that’s supposed to come with many changes and plot advancements, so a new character wouldn’t be out of the question either.
