‘Doctor Who’ Star Peter Capaldi Says Season 9 Guest Star Maisie Williams is Fantastic, Sharp and a Talented Tornado

Peter Capaldi, the Doctor in the British science-fiction TV series “Doctor Who,” says that he is quite excited about the upcoming airing of Season 9 although they are still busy filming at the moment. Season 9 of “Doctor Who” is scheduled to make its debut in BBC America this coming fall.

More than his excitement for the upcoming ninth installment of the widely-followed TV series, Peter Capaldi is actually getting goose bumps these days just thinking of his scheduled appearance at the San Diego ComicCon 2015 event this month. Capaldi will lead a panel, composed of the cast members and producers of “Doctor Who,” to face 7,000 people and answer some of their questions.

He said that he has not ever stood in front of 7,000 people in his life and that is why he is nervous. However, if those people wanted to see him and the “Doctor Who” cast members and producers, Capaldi says that it would be rude not to show up in the event, cites the Entertainment Weekly.

Capaldi joked that if he was given an opportunity to come to the ComicCon 2015 disguised as a monster, he would probably coming to the event as a white walker from the popular “Game of Thrones” TV series.

Teases for Season 9

Speaking of “Game of Thrones,” Peter Capaldi also disclosed that he is quite excited for having 18-year-old actress Maisie Williams as one of the guest stars for Season 9 of “Doctor Who.”

The Doctor describes Maisie, who plays the role of Arya Stark in “Game of Thrones,” as fantastic, sharp and a talented tornado. He added that the young actress has taught him many new words and expressions. Capaldi also teased that Maisie’s character in “Doctor Who” shifts in cosmic ways.

He also disclosed that Michelle Gomez, who plays the role of the villainess Missy, will be more magnificently bad than ever before in the show’s Season 9. This despite the fact that Missy was already killed in the series finale of Season 8.

He also said that the two-part premiere would put the Doctor in a conflict that is central to his being. It shall also have some subtle tributes to the 60s and that there will be some wonderful guest performances, but he did not disclose who it would be.

As far as the Doctor’s relationship with Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, is concerned, Capaldi said that the Doctor’s pursuit of joy, adventure, and thrill shall extend to the series’ female protagonist.

The Doctor and Clara would begin to realize that they are the most fortunate people in all of time and space and will continue to exude their zest for adventure. Capaldi also said that Coleman will continue to deliver a beautifully nuanced, complex and funny performance to her Clara character, making her the Doctor’s best companion ever, details the Den of Geek.

The time-travelling Doctor

“Doctor Who,” the current TV series, is an evolution of a British TV program that was produced by BBC from way back in 1963.

It is the story and adventures of the Doctor who is a time-travelling humanoid alien as he explores the universe onboard his sentinel time-travelling space ship.

The original British TV program run from 1963 to 1989 or a period of 26 years before it finally signed off the air. There was an attempt to revive the show in 1996, but it was unsuccessful then.

It was finally re-launched in 2005 with Russell Davies as the showrunner and head writer for the series’ first five years.
