Gamers Have Less Margin for Error in ‘Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’

Based on the rather lengthy 40-minute gameplay trailer released by Konami at the recently-concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 at Los Angeles, California, the open-world action adventure stealth video game “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” plays pretty much like “Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes.”

The long trailer featured quality time with game protagonist Diamond Dog in sandy desert action, which was a way for Konami to encouraged gamers to preorder the absurdly attractive and exciting action adventure stealth video game.

“Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes” is the stand-alone episode released last year as a prequel to “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” which will be hitting the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on September 1. The PC version of the video game will come a few weeks later after the release on the next generation gaming consoles.

With vast open areas which gamers can approach in various ways, the game gives a freeform approach to stealth gaming compared to previous games of the franchise, notes The Verge.

However, the large open space also means that the player should be better off not getting spotted because there’s less margin for error as enemies could actually appear in any direction.

Last game of the franchise

Game director Hideo Kojima has been saying that “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is to be his last given the fact that he and Konami have officially decided to part ways. It looks like the game will indeed be its final installment, unless Konami decides to pull off a major surprise in the future.

Some gamers who are familiar with the franchise say that “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is a major deviation from the series but those opinions were based primarily on the gameplay trailer showcased at the E3 2015.

But some gamers believe that it is still very much a “Metal Gear Solid” game given its reassuringly offbeat moments as games can still do things like prowl through undergrowth to hide behind a jeep, then steal it later by using a ridiculous reverse-parachute to suck it up into the air, sending nearby terrorists into wild confusion.

Uncharacteristically, the game also features an unsettling introduction for a surreal new enemy and a rather odd thematic fixation on sunglasses.

One of the highlights

Given the huge anticipation and the long wait that gamers had to endure for the coming of the video game, the unveiling of the trailer of “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” was definitely one of the main highlights of the E3 2015.

Initial feedbacks by those who have been seen the lengthy trailer of the upcoming stealth video game all state that “MGS 5” is Hideo Kojima’s best video game to date.
