“The Big Bang Theory” sometimes goes to great lengths to surprise its fans, and the show has done some unusual things throughout its seven seasons, as well as the current eighth. But now, it looks like we might get a more interesting development than ever before, as the members of the cast are possibly going to get in touch with alien life and establish actual contact!
This has been speculated for the 21st episode of the show, set to air on April 16. The official synopsis for the episode states that the guys are discussing what kind of a message they should send to aliens in the event that they establish contact with them, and end up spending a lot of time arguing back and forth about how their message should be structured.
Of course, the synopsis doesn’t actually reveal if they will be successful in establishing contact or not, but we would not put it past the show’s producers and writers to introduce something like this, even if just briefly. Meanwhile, we’re also going to see Penny trying to decide if she wants to keep her job in pharmaceutical sales, or go to the auditions for a film role.
The role in particular is for “Clerks 3”, which of course immediately got noticed by some fans of the show. Apparently, Penny will decide to take the risk and go with the audition, and she’ll end up talking to various actresses there who’ll give her some insight into the kind of career she can expect in that field.
As for the possibility of alien contact, Raj actually has a special project handed to him by NASA, who have tasked him with trying to contact alien lifeforms. He immediately recruits Leonard for his cause, wary of letting Sheldon and Howard get in on the project, but since they’re all working on relatively similar ideas in the first place, they realize it only makes sense to join forces, and so they do in the end.
The most shocking development that we’re going to see in this episode is that aliens will apparently notice Sheldon’s transmission and confuse it with a declaration of war, leading to an obviously tricky situation for everyone involved. It’s not yet known if this will actually happen in reality or if it’s just a dream sequence the character will go through, but fans have been speculating that the writers may actually end up showing aliens on the show. Even if it happens for just one episode, this could be a great development that will revive interest in the show briefly. It could certainly benefit from that too, as fans seem to be getting bored with seeing the same ideas over and over again.
