‘Finding Nemo’ Sequel to Hit Theaters as ‘Finding Dory’ on June 2016

After rolling out the plan to come up with the sequel to the 2004 box-office hit “The Incredibles,” Disney Pixar has also set in motion the production of the sequel to its 2003 hit animation “Finding Nemo.”

Officially titled “Finding Dory,” it already has a playdate of June 17, 2016 in theaters worldwide. It will be shown some 13 years after “Finding Nemo,” which was a story about a clown fish named Marlin who lost his son Nemo. Marlin got the help of an amnesiac blue tang fish named Dory in locating Nemo, whom they found finally in Australia.

Dory, as everyone knows, is voiced by popular TV host Ellen DeGeneres. The forgetful fish will not be the one missing in the upcoming film but she will be looking to find herself in the movie.

The storyline

Movie News Guide details that the story of “Finding Dory” will come one year after the events of “Finding Nemo.” It will be set this time around at the coast of California, particularly the California Marine Biology Institute. It is a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised.

Initial reports about the movie storyline confirmed that Dory will not be lost as Nemo was in “Finding Nemo.” The title is meant more about the blue tang fish finding about her origin and true identity.

Accordingly, Dory will be experiencing home sickness after seeing the manta rays migrate back home with Nemo during a class trip. This feeling will lead Dory to search for her origin, and that is where the “Finding Dory” storyline will revolve around. Dory will find out where she was born and how she was freed into the ocean at a young age.

The synopsis of the film was revealed no less by Jim Morris, president of Pixar in a radio interview last month.

Returning characters

Nemo and the rest of the ‘Tank Gang,’ the ones whom Nemo shared confinement with in the aquarium, will return for “Finding Dory,” including Marlin and the other characters of “Finding Nemo” along with several new ones.

There is also a possibility that Alexander Gould, Nemo’s voice actor, will no longer play voice actor to the young clown fish. He was only nine years old then during the filming of “Finding Nemo.” Now that he is already 21 years old, his voice has already deepened and certainly can no longer voice like a kid for Nemo.

Ellen DeGeneres will lead the voice talents for “Finding Dory” and shall have Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton playing the voices of her parents.
