Nintendo have been actively developing new content for “Super Smash Bros”, extending the popularity of the already successful title and bringing even more players to it. They have so far been careful about their new additions to the game, trying to please as many fans as possible at the same time, while also experimenting with some more unusual ideas.
And recently, the company revealed quite a lot about their upcoming plans for the game, including upcoming DLCs, free content, amiibo figures and changes to the gameplay that will be introduced down the road. The countless revelations immediately drove fans to discussion, and everyone is apparently quite excited about the future of “Super Smash Bros” right now.
To make things even better, Nintendo have decided to give players a chance to participate in the game’s direction at least a little bit, by allowing them to vote on the next character to be included. There are various possibilities, and it’s starting to get quite clear why Nintendo wanted to do it this way – it would probably be hard for the studio to choose one character of all the different ones they have planned, so they are turning to their players for a little assistance in determining the popularity of everyone.
In other related news, players will soon be able to play as Mewtwo as downloadable content priced at $4.99, although it will be free for Club Nintendo owners who have registered both versions of the game for the promotion. They’ll get their character on April 15, while those who want to purchase the paid DLC will have to wait until April 28.
Other characters that have been confirmed so far include Lucas from “Mother 3”, and players will soon be able to buy extra costumers for their Mii fighters as well. These will include various popular designs such as Mega Man X and Proto Man, as well as characters from other well-known titles.
Some players have been of the opinion that Nintendo could benefit a little more from including lesser-known characters in “Super Smash Bros” right now, instead of focusing on the most prominent ones. There are numerous games under Nintendo’s brand which deserve more recognition, and this would not only make “Super Smash Bros” players happier with the character selection in their own title, but it could also give a popularity boost to other games by the company.
In any case, we’ll probably be hearing the name of “Super Smash Bros” in the news often in the coming weeks/months, as Nintendo have been very active in their support for the game, and are expected to come out with a lot more extra content in the future as well.

Whatever they do for this DLC, I really hope it is at least more than one character. It just doesn’t make sense to pay a couple dollars for only one fighter; even if they are brand new. I would feel ok paying around $5.00 (U.S.) for at least three characters. That said, I am really hoping for King K. Rool. Of all the core franchises represented in Smash- from Mario to Star Fox- Metroid and the DK series have always been the least represented. K. Rool would be a well deserved representative and diverse character. If they brought back Lucas, bring back Wolf too; thus better representing Star Fox, and for the third character… well I really don’t care. All I really care is that K. Rool gets in.
VOTE KING K. ROOL!
