Fox Laying Down the Ground Work for the Next X-Men Film after X-Men: Apocalypse!

“X-Men: Apocalypse” will hit the theaters on May 27, 2016 yet but 20th Century Fox appears to be laying down the groundwork already for the next X-Men movie.

Everybody knows that “X-Men: Apocalypse” is the concluding third film in a trilogy that includes the “X-Men: First Class” shown in 2011 and the “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” released in 2014.

Just like its two predecessors, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is touted to become a big blockbuster considering the already huge and still growing fan-base of the series.

From the business standpoint, a producer would surely not let a very successful franchise go quietly into the night just like that. That is the reason why Fox is almost moving heaven and earth to make sure that it gets to retain most, if not all, of the series’ main characters.

Looking ahead

Rumors have it that Fox is already looking forward to having another X-Men movie even after “X-Men: Apocalypse.” With these things in mind, the production company has already started contemplating on re-signing some of its key stars for the future movie about the X-Men.

However, Fox can only do the re-signing of talents after the release of the “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Until then everyone in the list of mutants is fair game.

The result of the solo movies of Deadpool and Gambit scheduled next year will actually help Fox chart its future plans for the franchise, notes Screen Rant.

But as of this time, it remains uncertain whether the next X-Men movie after us will be a direct follow up or continuation to “X-Men: Apocalypse,” or entirely a different plot altogether like the rumored “X-Force” which is said to have a completed script already.

It has also been reported before that “X-Men: Apocalypse” shall have a 1980s setting and as such, there will likely be changes in the appearance of casts of characters from the original X-Men trilogy.

Young cast

The actors who were confirmed for the casting of “X-Men: Apocalypse” were actually younger versions of the mutants that appeared in previous X-Men films.

There’s Jennifer Lawrence who shall be playing the role of form-changing Raven also known as Mystique, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Peter if he’s not mutating, Chaning Tatum as the card-carrying mutant known as Gambit and Remy LeBeau if he’s not in his extra ordinary self, Michael Fassbender as Magneto or Erik Lensherr if he’s not in his mutant form, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier also known as Professor X, and Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy or the mutant Beast when he changes form.

Oscar Isaac will be playing the role of En Sabah Nur who is also the mutant Apocalypse, the foremost villain of the movie.

The character of Wolverine has not been included in the film as it was only during the latter part of the story when Professor X already had the school for mutants that they came across the mutant with blades in his hands and has the ability to quickly heal.
