Are Bethesda Revealing a new Wolfenstein instead of Fallout 4 at E3

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding “Fallout 4” for months now, and the excitement peaked recently with the revelation that Bethesda are planning a presentation at this year’s E3, although they haven’t specified what they will be showing exactly.

Immediately, pretty much everyone jumped to the assumption that we’ll finally see the new “Fallout”, and there aren’t really that many options for what Bethesda could be showing at this time. A new “Dishonored” has also been mentioned as a possibility, although a slimmer one.

Another game that has been speculated to be the target for Bethesda’s announcement is the long-awaited sequel to “The Elder Scrolls” franchise, but there hasn’t been much development going on in that area lately, so it’s hard to say how probable that is. There have been rumors that Bethesda have been preparing something with that series, but nothing concrete – and those rumors were certainly not on the same level as “Fallout 4”. Of course, knowing how secretive Bethesda can be, the lack of news doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

Last but not least, we have another interesting suggestion for the E3 event – according to a reddit discussion thread, the game in question could actually be a new “Wolfenstein”. Even though Bethesda only recently released another installment in that franchise, it’s still perfectly possible that they have been working on a sequel for some time now, and are ready to show it.

The last “Wolfenstein” enjoyed pretty good overall reception, even though a pre-release leak jeopardized the success of the game, showing its AI performing quite poorly. It was later clarified that this was the result of “development” software, and wasn’t representative of what the final game was like. The leak initially managed to give some people the wrong impression about the title, as it presented it in a very negative light.

Hopefully, Bethesda have learned a lesson about keeping their secrets and will prevent something like this from happening again, no matter what game they are planning to unveil. It’s especially true for “Fallout 4” though, as a game with such a serious reputation stands to lose even more from a leak that gives the wrong impression about it.

Fallout 4

All we can do at this point is patiently wait and see what the studio has planned for their fans, and if it really does turn out that “Fallout 4” is coming by the end of this year, it would be outstanding news for gamers. There is a lot Bethesda can do to evolve the franchise, especially with all they’ve learned in recent years from their other titles. With a little innovation and lots of polish, “Fallout 4” could be one of the biggest names of the year.
