The Mentalist Season 7’s Final Episode Concludes the Hit TV Show!

“The Mentalist” was one of the more prominent names in television recently, and the show managed to quickly gather a large following of fans shortly after airing its pilot episode, as many were drawn to the quirky premise and well-developed characters. Even though some have criticized the show’s producers for taking the premise from another show (“Psych”) without modifying it too much, “The Mentalist” still managed to have its own unique charm and captivated the hearts of TV fans across the globe.

Unfortunately for its fans however, the show was nearing its conclusion recently, and the grand finale aired on February 18, when the seventh and last season of “The Mentalist” was finished. The episode was received very warmly by most of the show’s fans, and judging by the discussions going on online around various popular message boards, most fans are satisfied with the way the story was wrapped up.

It’s worth noting that Simon Baker, who plays the main character of the show – Patrick Jane – was actually the one who wrote the ending of the show, at least to some extent. According to him, he didn’t write the entire script for the last episode, but the last scene was all his. He called the executive producer of the show, shared his idea with him, and asked for an opinion – and after that, the idea was implemented into the show and turned into the final scene.

Baker further shared that he took great pleasure in his work with the series, and is leaving the production on a very positive note, with lots of great memories from the time he’s spent on the set. He also wanted fans to love the end of the show as much as he loved his entire work on it, judging by what he said, and it sounds like he was really inspired to come up with an interesting finale.

What does the future hold for the show’s fans? There have been rumors of a potential spin-off, and some fans have seen that as a real possibility – but according to a recent interview with Tom Szentgyorgyi, executive producer on the show, while the idea did come up at some point, the team has decided to not go with it in the end.

They were apparently considering Kimball Cho for a potential spinoff, as Szentgyorgyi admitted that he quite enjoyed the performance of Tim Kang as the character, but in the end they had decided against producing any spin-offs based around him. Which is certainly said, as it would have been interesting to see where the producers could take that character if he were given his own unique story.

  1. why did you end the Mentalist????????////
He is awesome and so was the rest of the cast!!
The only thing that got stupid and boring was the search for Red John, so many seasons. He should have been gone after the first season!
The show was great. I especially liked Cho. What a great character he was.
Please bring Patrick, Lisbon and Cho back in another show and get new writers.
The last show was the best I have ever seen. Patrick’s smile is so charming and awesome. I love the guy.
Get some really good writers and bring the show back!!

    1. I agree!! I wish I knew how to get in touch with Bruno Heller. I will miss the show! It really was a great cast, and I want to know if their baby will be a girl or a boy. Maybe they could bring it back as “special’s” throughout the year.

  2. @ Linda you are very right ..the show was really a great entertainment throughout seven seasons!!! But many think that season slowed because Red John was revealed..The pursuit of Red John was the most impressive of all :) I disagree that Red John should have been revealed in 1st season.
