The latest variant of the Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation, also referred to as Motorola Moto G2, now comes with 4G LTE connectivity support which makes it an even better midrange smartphone that the Japanese tech company brandished it to be when it first came out in September last year.
With the growing need for 4G LTE connectivity these days for many smartphone users for their data and communication needs, whether personal or business, the new feature of the Motorola Moto G2 is a whiff of fresh air.
What is more noteworthy is the fact that the latest variant of the Motorola Moto G2, as a mid-range handset, is actually cheaper compared to the various flagship smartphones exuding the same 4G LTE capabilities available in the retail markets today.
The Day Herald also noted that with the growing popularity for the use of LTE combined with the excellent support provided by the carriers, it’s really good that Motorola Moto G2 and a few other budget handsets are getting access to the 4G network.
The tech industry is moving towards LTE connectivity so it is good that Motorola put forth its best foot forward via the latest variant of the Moto G2.
Major differences
The new Motorola Moto G 2nd gen retained most of the features of its earlier version and apart from the 4G and LTE capabilities, the other two major differences are that the current model is coming out of the box with Android 5.0 Lollipop on it with possibly free upgrade to Android 5.1 Lollipop, and of course its price.
When the Motorola Moto G 2nd gen came out to the markets after its official launch in September last year, it carried a retail price of only $180.
The latest variant comes with it a retail price of $236. Considering the new features and capabilities it possesses, the upgraded Motorola Moto G 2nd gen is still a steal compared to most other smartphones with practically the same features available in the market today.
Premium features
Because of its premium features and very affordable price, the Motorola Moto G 2nd gen turned out to be the best-selling smartphone in Motorola’s history.
When it was released in September last year, the Motorola smartphone became one of the most powerful mobile devices in the market and practically went at par with the flagship smartphones of Samsung and Sony.
But because of its budget price, it has significantly carved its own niche in the highly competitive smartphone market.
With practically the same features as the current flagship smartphones that were out in the market during it official launch, it was already understood why the budget-conscious buyers trooped and formed a beeline for the Motorola Moto G 2nd gen.
The smartphone features a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1280 screen resolution that is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a powerful 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.
It has a RAM capacity of 1GB and an internal storage capacity of 8GB that can be upgraded to 32GB using a micro SD card. The Motorola Moto G 2nd gen has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash.
