2K Sports Celebrated the NBA Playoffs Last Weekend with a Free Treat for NBA 2K15 Fans

Fans of the “NBA” franchise by 2K Sports who hadn’t yet tried the latest “NBA 2K15” got the perfect opportunity to do that this weekend, as the company decided to celebrate the real-life NBA playoffs with a special promotion for their Xbox fans. The game was offered for free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, and was open for download throughout the whole weekend.

Sadly, the deal wasn’t permanent and this was more of a free weekend type of promotion, designed to give players a taste of the game if they’re still on the fence about buying it. However, there was also an extra incentive for players to purchase the game during the weekend, as it was put on a discount as part of a special “Weekend Bundle”, which also added 15,000 Virtual Currency to the player’s account upon purchase.

Those who were low on VC points were also given a chance to refresh their stocks, as the currency was put on sale at 33% off during the weekend as well. The studio also handled the transition from a free trial to a full copy of the game quite nicely, as players reported that their progress was carried over upon purchasing the full game. Everything seems to be preserved from the free trial, including savegames, achievements, stats and everything else.

The move seemed to give quite the solid boost to the game’s already high popularity, injecting fresh new players into its fanbase, and adding even more of a reason for 2K Sports to develop it further and explore new ideas for its gameplay. There’s still a lot that can be done to make sure “NBA 2K15” will be a name that will be remembered for a long time, but even in its current state, the game has a lot to offer and is definitely worth the purchase for true fans of the sport.

One of the best parts about it is the fact that 2K are quite active in their interaction with the community, even if they don’t directly respond to suggestions and criticisms – the studio still keeps an eye on Internet discussions and it’s not rare to see various features implemented into the game after being talked about online.

Lately though, the amount of overall criticism has died down significantly, as it seems like most players are happy with the current condition of the game, and have focused on simply playing and enjoying it. If 2K continue to release updates for the title in the future, it should retain its player base for a long time, and ensure that the next installment in the franchise will receive even more attention.
