Despite reports claiming that Apple will announce its newest addition to its MacBook family, the 2016 MacBook Air and the 2016 MacBook Pro, next month, contrasting reports claim that the tech giant has decided to push the launching of its latest notebook and laptop in the latter part of the second quarter of this year.
As per Lawyer Herald, Apple has decided to wait until their annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to unveil their new MacBook products. The WWDC is expected to take place in June.
The website says that in addition to the MacBook Pro, there could possibly three new products that will be added to the MacBook Air — a 12-inch version, a 13-inch variant, and a 15-inch model.
DigiTimes notes that this could possibly be the reason why the company has decided to push back the release of the devices so that they could have more time to market the three models of the 2016 MacBook Air.
As a tradition, Apple always has an upgrade for its MacBook lineup at least once a year. The last update was made during the first and second quarter of 2015.
The company releasing its newest laptop and notebook is consistent with statements of KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kou, who earlier said that the latest version of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will arrive in the first half of the year.
Some note that if these new MacBook models will indeed make its first appearance at the WWDC, then tech enthusiasts won’t see them in the retail markets until the third or fourth quarter of the year.
Breathecast, on the other hand, reported that the 2016 MacBook Pro will be unveiled during the company’s event next month while the 2016 MacBook Air will be unveiled in June as it is the brand with three variations.
There were also reports saying that Apple is already planning to put a halt on their MacBook Air series, but this was immediately debunked by sources from the company.
It was initially reported that Apple will be revealing the newest additions to its MacBook line during their annual event every March where they also plan to unveil a slew of new devices such as the Apple Watch 2, the iPad Air 3, and the rumored mid-range iPhone 5SE.
Last year, they announced the 2015 versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in March, hence tech geeks thought that the company won’t stray away from the pattern.
Amid all the rumors as to when Apple will unveil its newest line of laptop and notebook, it is still best to stay tuned to the company’s official confirmation.
Speculations on the latest version of the MacBook Pro say that it could be powered with Intel’s sixth-generation micro-architecture also known as the Skylake chip.
The chipset does not only improve the performance, it also produces better graphics and power efficiency as well.
The Skylake update in the processor will feature a smarter power usage that can aid in extending the laptop’s battery life.
The chip is expected to amp the graphics to a 4K resolution, but a lot of competitors are also releasing laptops with 4K display nowadays so Apple may also make a move to enhance its laptops with Retina display.
There are also speculations that the tech company might integrate some of the features that are already visible to the 2016 MacBook Pro’s predecessor. These include the USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt and Force Touch trackpad.
Latinos Health reports that the 2016 MacBook Air will have a thinner frame. Analysts also predict that it will be packed with Intel Broadwell or Skylake processor.
The new chip requires a DDR4 memory as opposed to the current version of the MacBook Air which only carries the DDR3 memory. Another thing is that this year’s version of the MacBook Air shall come with Retina display.
The company initially wanted last year’s model to have the Retina display but for some reason, it didn’t push through.
