The 2015 Ford Edge Crossover is the best looker in its range so far, although, does this vehicle pack in the performance aspects too or is it just about external aesthetics? We find out! Ford has a niche clientele that stand by the brand irrespective of the general market sentiments. However, another faction is bent on ruining Ford’s reputation.
Can Ford silence its critics with the 2015 Edge? We sure hope they do! The upcoming crossover sports numerous modern electronic gadgets such as an electric Start/Stop whose primary function is saving fuel. Add to that the Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Steering, Rear View Camera and Collision Control.
While the Adaptive Cruise Control automatically applies the brakes once you get too close to the vehicle ahead of you, Active Steering is responsible for making handling more responsive. Collision Detection is a quirky gadget that calculates the present distance, speed and acceleration and automatically applies the brakes in case of wheel spin or if the driver fails to respond on time.
The Button Based Central Console is detailed and has been incorporated after buyers revealed that buttons are more responsive than the touchscreen. Ford has inculcated a 360 degree Rear View Mirror that allows drivers to watch any area that they want to, while reversing.
Some of the additional features on the 2015 Ford Edge, as compared to its predecessors, include the glove-box mounted airbag, inflatable seat belts and hands-free boot opener, etc., which come in handy in case of an emergency. Ford has taken the utmost care to make the 2015 Edge crossover as family friendly and safe as possible and these safety additions affirm the tale.
Under the hood sits a range of engine options, including a 2.0-liter EcoBoost, 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost block, 3.5-liter V6 engine and the range-topping 4.0-liter turbocharged variant. Initial information suggests that all engine options are hooked on to a six-speed automated transmission system, although, this cannot be confirmed at the moment.
Ford has taken care of drive dynamics and performance along with fuel economy on the Edge Crossover. The company claims that the base model returns close to 22 MPG, which is quite an achievement considering the 200 BHP displacement and weight of the vehicle. The fuel economy and power displacement for the other models are yet to be confirmed.
Ford is tightlipped about the release date of the 2015 Edge in the US market, although, customers are hoping to catch the vehicle at the nearest dealership by the end of 2014 or early 2015. We cannot confirm this report as these are based on pure speculations at the moment. The vehicle will however launch in South America first, followed by Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Stay tuned for additional information from the world of automobiles.
