The Duggar family have been surrounded by some controversy recently, after the reality show “19 Kids and Counting” made them famous – and was recently cancelled. Even though the show is off the air now, people are still quite interested in the lives of the Duggars, and we’re likely going to keep hearing about them for quite some time in the future, at least as long as there are interesting events surrounding them.
Josh, the family’s father, has had a particularly problematic situation as there has been a lot of controversy around him, related to a molestation scandal that surfaced in May. He has expressed severe remorse for what has happened, and released a public statement related to the story. He explained that he was a young teenager and was acting inexcusably, something for which he was deeply sorry.
He ended up asking for forgiveness, and has been trying to move on with his life since then. And while we don’t know many details of his family’s private life, it’s good to see that they are at least able to move forward and have even been expanding their family.
Now, the family has just had their fourth child, and Duggar’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, have posted a video congratulating their son and his wife on their new family member. Josh Duggar posted on Twitter to confirm that the baby was born, and revealed that it was a girl who they have named Meredith Grace.
Additionally, a spokeswoman for the show “19 Kids and Counting” has confirmed the news separately. Not that we needed any extra confirmation after the word came from the mouth of Josh himself, but still – the news is all over the Web now and everyone has been talking about the family’s new child.
Meanwhile, no charges have been filed against Josh Duggar after it came to light that he has molested some of his sisters, as well as a babysitter for the family, during a period when he was a teenager between 2002 and 2003. Despite the highly controversial nature of the incident and the huge amounts of attention it received in the media, there have been little to no developments on the legal front, and we don’t really expect anything to even happen at this point.
TLC, the network that was running the show prior to its cancellation, have revealed that they now have new plans, as they’re producing a documentary centered around child sexual abuse, aiming to raise awareness about the issue and hoping that they can help to prevent it in the future.
It’s also been revealed that some of the Duggars will participate in the film as well, but we don’t know if Josh Duggar himself will be featured. So far, it sounds like the film will try to get each side of the story as objectively as possible, trying to shed some light on what really happened nearly 15 years ago, and how guilty exactly Josh Duggar was.
Some have been critical of the idea of focusing on the story of the Duggars in the new film at the same time, claiming that it’s an event that happened too far in the past to have an objective overview of it, and it’s possible that the story has been twisted by the media too much to make it worth including in a documentary. Still, we don’t know the extent to which the documentary is going to focus on this issue, so this might be a moot point in the first place.
