Season 3 of the American comedy-drama series “Orange Is the New Black” began airing on Netflix on June 11. As it was only 13 episodes, it would not have taken viewers more than two weeks to finish everything in maybe two or three sitting in front of their computers.
While there may still be others who are still chewing on the remaining episodes of Season 3 of “Orange Is the New Black” at this time, actress Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause, one of the leading characters in the series, says that she is already excited and looking forward to Season 4, which would be aired on Netflix next year yet.
In the series finale of Season 3, it was seen that one of her enemies has infiltrated the prison and thus the life and the future of Alex hang in the balance, details the Mirror.
As if to say that Alex is going to be okay for Season 4, Laura Prepon actually posted a picture of herself in inmate costume on June 23 in her Instagram account and captioning it with ‘Glasses, Eyeliner, Badge, excited to get out there and make an awesome season for you guys,’ referring to the fans and followers of the show who are looking ahead to the fourth season of the series.
Transformation and transitioning relationship
While the series revolves around Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, as the “Orange Is the New Black” is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir titled “Orange Is the New Black” My Year in a Women’s Prison,” it is her relationship with Alex that is the focal point of the show.
Alex, who was an international drug smuggler, was already in prison when she named Piper in her trial resulting to the arrest of her girlfriend for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her.
So they got reunited in a federal prison called the Litchfield Penitentiary operated by the Federal Department of Corrections, which is the fictionalized version of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
As they examine their relationship and deal with the other women inmates Piper and Alex began to discover themselves that is why the show often unveils flashbacks of significant events from the past of the two main protagonists as well as the other inmates.
Most of the episodes of the series focus on how one inmate came to be in prison so detailed back stories are essential to establish good plotlines.
In Season 3, it looks like Piper has transformed to become a ruthless criminal herself and thus her transitioning relationship with Alex. Whereas in the beginning, Alex seems to be the pain in the neck of Piper, the positions have been reversed and fans now root more for Alex than Piper because of the latter’s evil transformation.
It may be Piper’s way of finally getting even with Alex for dragging her to prison and it seems like Taylor Schilling is doing a wonderful job in transforming her character from a kale-eating yuppie to a stone-cold, scheming heart-breaker, details US Magazine.
She also cheated on Alex during Season 3 and she even had the gall to flaunt to her former girlfriend her new relationship with Stella, played by Ruby Rose.
