After finally seeing Sheldon and Amy consummate their relationship in the most recent season of “The Big Bang Theory”, it looks like some fans have changed their views on the show, at least with regards to Sheldon. His character has matured a bit over the years, and this was apparently the tipping point for many to finally see him as an adult, and not as a childish caricature of a geeky scientist.
However, things are far from over on that front, as the writers will now have to deal with integrating the more physical aspect of Sheldon and Amy’s relationship on a more regular basis, and they may have some challenges to overcome in this regard.
On one hand, it looks like fans will definitely enjoy seeing the two characters get “closer” on a more regular basis, but on the other, it has the potential to ruin the way some people see the show. With that, we may even see “The Big Bang Theory” exiting the screen in a rather dramatic fashion, but hopefully that’s not where things are headed right now.
It looks like Amy is going to get a special surprise for her birthday, and yes, it’s exactly in that line of thought. Keeping the sexual aspect of the relationship between the two characters as a more special and rare thing could be the right approach for the writers, judging by responses from fans, but it remains to be seen how exactly they’re going to pull this off.
Meanwhile, things are apparently going to get more serious between other characters too, as for example Bernadette is about to become a mother in an upcoming episode. This will change things quite a bit, and not just for her and Howard, but for the other characters as well.
Some fans seem to see this as an indication that the show is going to be wrapped up eventually, and the producers are already looking into ways to elegantly exit the scene. Making things more serious between Sheldon and Amy, and taking the relationship of Bernadette and Howard to the next level could definitely indicate that the producers want to conclude the story.
But it could also point to major changes coming up in the show’s format, leading up to an even longer run on the screen than most fans are expecting right now. “The Big Bang Theory” certainly has a strong potential to remain on the screen for a lot longer, and hopefully the producers are going to make proper use of the assets they have available.
It could be interesting to see one final season showing them tackling the issues of real life from a more realistic perspective, painting the show in a more down-to-earth manner. That could be a refreshing change of scenery, and it may be just the kind of change the show needs in order to survive for more seasons in the next few years.
Because in the end, it’s no secret that the long run of “The Big Bang Theory” has taken its toll on the production’s quality, and some fans have started to get skeptical of its future. Ratings have been more or less stable, and they’ve actually seen an improvement at some points when the producers introduced some strategic changes to the format, but things could definitely be better. And at this point, there are realistically only two things that can happen after so much time has passed.
