Toyota leaked an image of the upcoming 2016 Tacoma and truck lovers went berserk after the teaser released. The teaser portrayed an image of the front grille, which is the second image in the lineup. Further details are to be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show on January 12th, 2015. The recently revealed image gives out a strong indication of the upcoming image, even though it was hazy, and the background was filled with smoke.
The front end is adorned by a new LED infused headlamp, a trapezoidal grille, narrowed scoops and stance, chrome trim, extended fender flares and a well-sculpted hood. While the second image showcased the front end of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, the first image had portrayed the rear end. The rear bumper, vertical tail lamps, and the nameplate adorned the rear end of the vehicle.
Toyota has borrowed heavily from the 4Runner SUV, and this is visible on most counts. However, for further inputs, viewers will have to wait for the official preview early next year. Toyota has declared that the 2016 Tacoma will work its way up the charts and will rival the honchos of the segment.
It is time that the big three take note. Toyota has incorporated quite a few innovative and technologically advanced features into the Tacoma, enhancing safety and driveability. This pickup truck performs exceptionally on the asphalt and off-road conditions, although, it will spend a major part of its life in an urban locale.
Initial rumors suggest that Toyota is not interested in the four or five-speed transmission that was present in the last generation Tacoma pickup truck, and they are planning to move ahead with a six-speed automated and manual gearbox. The present generation 2.7-liter and 4.0-liter engine options have been re-tuned for the upcoming model.
Toyota has also worked on the exhaust note, which sounds deeper than before, with a distinct growl to it.
Performance is likely to have been tweaked for the better, although, it is impossible to decipher that from the initial images of the prototype that have been launched so far. Toyota has filmed a commercial in Michigan and more on that in our upcoming report on the Tacoma.
As of now, Toyota has claimed that the external dynamics of the 2016 Tacoma has undergone some severe cosmetic changes, and the fans are waiting for to catch a proper glimpse of the vehicle this January. Looks like the pickup truck market is up for some very serious competition with the likes of GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier and the Chevrolet Colorado suffering the most!
