The first-person shooter video game “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” will hit the gaming consoles and the PC on November 17 but the hype on the game is starting to get to the level of thunderous, similar to the upcoming “Star Wars” movie to be shown in December this year.
In order to drumbeat the heightening interest of gamers on the upcoming game, developer Digital Illusions CE (DICE) has opened “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” for pre-ordering.
The game is actually the third in a series of similarly-titled video games that is why it is being referred to by gamers as “Star Wars: Battlefront 3.” In reality, however, the game’s official title is “Star Wars: Battlefront” and it is technically different from the first two video games.
Typical with pre-order offers on most video games, there are a couple of perks for fans and players of the game including early access to the “Battle of Jakku,” and two new maps on the all-new planet of Jakku. The planet Jakku was first shown in the trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” cites Gamezone.
“The Battle of Jakku” will enable gamers to play out the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on the remote desert planet in the Outer Rim.
Those who shall pre-order the game will also be entitled to a double-sided poster that features a stormtrooper on the volcanic planet of Sullust, which was mentioned in passing during the film “Star Wars 6: The Return of the Jedi” shown way back in 1983.
It is believed that Sullust will serve as one of the initial map locations alongside the other planets including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and eventually Jakku.
R2D2-themed gaming console
Leave it to the creative people to further hype the coming of “Star Wars: Battlefront 3.” The latest innovation seems to be a customized R2D2-themed PlayStation 4.
Ed Zarick was the one who custom-built the gaming platform, which features the popular “Star Wars” droid with the help from Astromech and a 3D printer. The blue and white outer shell of R2D2 makes up most of the look, cites Comicbook.
Ed installed a light in front like the one R2D2 uses in the film to project holographic images. The particular light does not do that to everyone, but it changes colors. There is also a switch on the side that will play R2D2 sound effect when pressed.
Realistic “Star Wars” experience
The game developer disclosed that it has greatly used photogrammetry in the development of the “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” to give gamers and fans the most realistic Star Wars experience.
“Star Wars: Battlefront 3” would be hitting the next generation gaming consoles and the PC on November 17.
The game is actually the third in a series of similarly-titled video games that is why it is being referred to by gamers as “Star Wars: Battlefront 3.” In reality, however, the game’s official title is “Star Wars: Battlefront” and it is technically different from the first two video games.
In addition to major changes in the gameplay compared to the previous two games in the series, “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” has actually done away with large-scale destruction in favor of video game fidelity through more detailed environments.
Photogrammetry is actually the technique of processing still pictures to produce a high-resolution 3D mesh. It usually involves the taking of photos of a subject or subjects first before running the images through a photogrammetry software.
When the still images are fed to the software, the program will create reference points based on the angles and create a highly detailed foundation of a 3D model.
