Season 3 of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim is still more than a year from returning to the small screen but fans and viewers of the hit show were elated to know that production has already started even this early.
During the Season 2 finale of “Rick and Morty,” Mr. Poopybutthole said that Season 3 of the TV series would return to TV after about a year and a half. It has been five months already since the Season 2 finale aired and fans expect that the wait would just be down to 13 months.
It has been projected that the earliest that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 could air on Adult Swim is in March next year but it seems that the TV series could actually air in April 2017, which means that the wait has been extended to another 14 months. But that would not matter as February 2016 is about to draw to a close so it would be 13 months of wait again.
The good news for fans is that on February 19, “Rick and Morty” voice actors stepped into the booth to start recording the Season 3 premiere episode.
It was actually Mike McMahan, writer for “Rick and Morty” and the creator of the popular Twitter account TNG Season 8, who confirmed that recording for episode 301 of the TV series has already begun when he posted on Twitter on February 18 that the voice actors are already burning the midnight oil for the scheduled recording tomorrow, details iDigital Times.
McMahan is credited for writing the script of the first episode of “Rick and Morty” which has a working title of episode 301.
Back in December, McMahan announced that he had already begun writing the first episode of the third season of “Rick and Morty.”
According to latest reports, new episodes are now beginning to come to life as well. While the details of the exact production schedule for Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is still not clear at this time, fans are just happy to know that it is now taking shape.
Exciting new location
Meanwhile, in an interview with Dan Harmon, co-creator of “Rick and Morty,” said that the adventures of the titular characters may be set in an exciting new location.
He said that it was time to demand that the network allows them to draw the characters going to Hawaii, notes the Vine Report.
While fans wait for Season 3 of the TV series, they may get their hands on the confirmed new comic book regarding the franchise titled “Rick and Morty: Lil’ Poopy Superstar #1” that will be included in the Oni Press’ summer release.
The synopsis of the comic book tells that Mr. Poopybuthole is in trouble and Summer is the only person who can help him.
Sarah Graley wrote and illustrated the narrative in collaboration with Mildred Louis as the colorist and Marc Ellerby for the back-up comics. Pre-order price for the comic book is set at $3.99 and it will arrive on comic stands beginning on July 13.
Mobile video game on the franchise
Fans of “Rick and Morty” already know that Season 3 of their favorite TV show on Adult Swim will not be happening this year. In fact, they also know that the earliest that Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” could air on the small screen is in March next year.
However, fans and viewers of the popular adult animated TV series are already getting their fixes in other ways.
