‘Persona 5’ Still on Track for 2015 Release, Hints Game Publisher on Forum

A recent advertisement of PlayStation that appeared in one gaming magazine indicated that the upcoming role-playing game “Persona 5” would be released in 2016, contrary to previous reports that the game will finally hit gaming shelves before the end of the year.

However, a PR person of game publisher Atlus may have actually confirmed recently in a web forum that the game would be released this year. The PR posted on the NeoGAF forum when asked about the release date of “Persona 5” by saying that the game is still on track for 2015.

The news has certainly sparked a new round of excitement among fans since there is hardly any reports or promotional materials about the release date or other details about “Persona 5,” notes Youth Health Mag.

If indeed it’s true that the game will finally be released this year on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 3, it is likely that more information about the game will be coming soon from Atlus.

Christian Today also confirmed in its report that game publisher Atlus plans to push the release of “Persona 5” before 2015 comes to an end.

Accordingly, the development team of Atlus is still pretty much hard at work trying to figure out the plot for the next installment of the very successful “Persona” video game franchise.

Atlus executive Yu Namba also shared that the game could paved the way for the entry of gay characters to the game. The whole gay character issue originated from “Persona 4” where Kanji had some issues on sexual identity. It went as far as seeking the acceptance of the public with regards to his personal dilemma.

Namba said that he can’t actually speak about the game’s reception in Japan since he does not have a direct line of feedback to the audience. However, looking back to the story of “Persona 4,” Kanji’s choice of words and actions actually see him leaning towards the player’s direction because the developer focused on the development or evolution of his character.

Simultaneous roll out

After disappointing fans and gamers for its no-show at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 in June, Atlus has leaked, intentionally or otherwise, a full-length trailer of the game on YouTube.

The lengthy trailer features additional gameplay and enemies as well as an extended look on the game’s hero and his friends through some new cut scenes.

The leaked footage is actually the second trailer on “Persona 5” as the first was merely an intro to the protagonist and the game’s flashy look.

It seems like Atlus wanted to make up for its misgivings to the fans and gamers of the highly-anticipated video game. Apparently, hints and rumors of the impending release of “Persona 5” coming from its direction are now making the rounds on the internet.

August announcement coming

All indications point to Atlus making the announcement of game details in August. There have been previous reports that “Persona 5” will be launched in the winter of 2015, but no specific date has been mentioned.

If the history of Atlus in game launchings is to be the basis for “Persona 5,” then there is really no doubt that the game would finally be released in December 2015.

It has been a sort of tradition in the franchise that the release date of the game comes four months after its official announcement. So if the August announcement pushes through, the December launching is imminent.

Another factor being considered by critics is the game magazine that normally comes out on the month that the game is launched. Reports have it that the next Persona magazine will be unveiled in the month of December, and thus “Persona 5” will either come a few days after the magazine is released or simultaneously comes out with the publication.

There are also reports saying that “Persona 5” will simultaneously launch on the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita in December 2015 both in North America and Japan.
