The rumors about the upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo 2, the next flagship smartphone of the American handset maker, are piling up but none can be more exciting to consumers than reports saying that the device would come with an unbreakable display screen.
Now that is something that big players like Apple or Samsung still has not come up with in their current line of smartphone and mobile devices.
According to Phandroid, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will sport a 5.43-inch QHC shatterproof display and that it would be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, which means it would be quite a powerful and fast-processing handset.
Indicative that rumors about the display screen of Motorola Droid Turbo 2 being unbreakable are true was further heightened when reports came out that the American smartphone maker is calling the prototype unit as the Motorola Bounce. Everyone knows that anything that bounces is unbreakable or made of rubber, but no detail has been released yet regarding the material that Motorola will use for the display screen of its upcoming flagship smartphone.
Other specifications and features
The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 shall have two storage options of 32GB and 64GB, but no detail has also been said whether the phone is to have an expandable storage or not via the typical microSD card slot.
It shall have a 3GB of RAM and shall feature a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.
Most of all, it will have a generous 3,760 mAH of battery which would make it bigger than the battery being used by the Motorola Moto X Play.
The battery size may seem big, but the original Motorola Droid Turbo included a bigger 3,900 mAH non-removable battery, which offers up to 28 days of stand-by time and up to 48 hours of usage time.
Based on the leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2, the smartphone actually looks more like the Motorola Moto X Play than the Motorola Moto X Style but its sides are completely straight and don’t appear to taper off near the corner which is the attribute of the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style.
December launch
While initial reports say that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 would be launched in October, which is exactly one year after the Motorola Droid Turbo completes its one-year market cycle, Tech Times reports that the device will be launched in December.
Just like its predecessor, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will be exclusively be made available in the US through Verizon Wireless.
The Motorola Droid Turbo is available in metallic black or red colors while the leaked image of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 shows a gray shell.
It is also expected that the device would come out with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on it out of the box. Reports also indicate that the company may make an announcement or a big reveal about the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 when the company participates in the upcoming IFA event in Berlin, Germany.
Numerous leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 have made it to the internet as early as June. While no official announcement of statement has come from the American smartphone maker, the leaks were already more than enough to confirm the existence of the successor of Motorola’s flagship smartphone of 2014.
Motorola announced on July 28 the impending arrival of Moto X 2015 and the Moto X Play, but American consumers got dismayed upon learning that the latter smartphone would not make it to the US market.
However, instead of the Moto X Play, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will be released in the US, exclusively by carrier Verizon Wireless.
Based on the leaked images of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2, the chassis of the device looks similar to the Moto X Style and Moto X Play, and will most likely be made with the same material.
