‘Married at First Sight’ Already Has a Possible Replacement Should Season 3 Does Not Materialize, More Details

With all three couples who participated during Season 2 of the American social experiment reality TV series “Married at First Sight” on FYI ending in divorce, viewer sentiments are high against the continuance of the show for Season 3.

The speculations that the show would not be renewed for its third season even grew stronger when the casting call previously posted on the show’s website was pulled out despite drawing a substantial number of applicants, according to producers.

It seems that the network is also resigned to the fact that “Married at First Sight” Season 3 will no longer be happening and that is why it is preparing a replacement show soon. However, the replacement show would also be a social experiment reality TV series and it shall also make marriage an experiment just like “Married at First Sight,” and this time, more absurd.

According to the Gospel Herald, the possible replacement show is “Seven Year Switch” and the premise of the series is couples who have been married for seven years switch partners.

A controversial replacement show

The new series is similar to other reality shows like “Wife Swap” or “Trading Spouses” but “Seven Year Switch” raises up the ante several notches higher by requiring the switched husbands and wives to share a bed, and take the challenge to the extreme.

To those who still value the sanctity of marriage, reality shows like “Married at First Sight” and the possibly upcoming replacement “Seven Year Switch” is an open assault on the institution because it is turning marriages into social experiments for the purpose of television, which is not good morally.

Although, ratings-wise, these shows do bring in the viewers as most people really like watching even the most absurd things happening around.

As much as “Married at First Sight” is a controversial show, it is likely that its replacement series, the “Seven Year Switch,” assuming it is green-lit by FYI, will equally be controversial too, or worse, even more controversial.

Slight possibility of a renewal

While it did report the unlikely renewal of “Married at First Sight” for Season 3 considering that the show has already taken down from its website the casting call supposedly for its third season, there is a slight chance that FYI may have already found the people or pairs whom they intend to bring together.

That could explain why the casting call was already taken down from the show’s website.

But considering the negative feedbacks of viewers, there is a higher chance that the show will be put in the can for good rather than risk continued viewer ire with a possible Season 3.

There is no doubt that “Married at First Sight” was a very popular show and its ratings and viewership figures over its past two seasons can very well validate its popularity.

While a good number of Americans have thrown brickbats at the show over its first two seasons, “Married at First Sight” on the FYI network still draws in the viewers because after all, experts say that fans also love watching what they hate in order to criticize it some more.

Viewers have gotten the right all the more to hit the show hard especially when none of the three couples in Season 2 ended well, with one pair immediately deciding to divorce while the two others were well on the same route after parting ways.

The first season of the show may have been a breakthrough on reality TV as it brought a lot of excitement, tension, as well as drama to viewers. However, Season 2 of “Married at First Sight” failed to prove its purpose on TV.

Married at first sight

If it’s any consolation to the American fans of the social experiment TV series “Married at First Sight,” other couples in the show’s counterparts in Denmark and Australia are also not doing well. However, the Australian version of the show has been renewed for Season 2 in July despite a batting average of only one out of three couples during its first season.

  1. The 7 year switch is a disgusting idea!! Absolutely de-void of any purpose in today’s already declining moral compass!
