Despite High Demand, Apple iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Is Likely not Happening Due to Upcoming Release of iOS 8.4!

Apple’s iOS users have been waiting for the cracking community to release a jailbreak tool for the current 8.3 version of the operating system, and have been discussing the need for one around messaging boards pretty much since the operating system came out. So far though, there is no tool in sight – and what’s worse, it seems like we aren’t ever going to get one, as crackers might just jump to iOS 8.4 instead when it releases instead.

The new version of the operating system is reportedly scheduled for a release very soon, so most members of the cracking community have already started preparing their tools for that instead, and don’t want to waste their efforts jailbreaking two separate versions of the OS so close to each other, especially when most people are just going to upgrade to 8.4 when it comes out. At least if they have a jailbreak tool for it.

There have been some issues surrounding the jailbreak process lately too, as Apple have been releasing new security measures for the operating system in order to counteract the efforts of jailbreak experts, and even though there has been a lot of confidence from the community that the issue is going to be resolved soon, that didn’t happen until now.

But on the other hand, iOS 8.4 brings about various improvements which will make it an attractive choice for the operating system’s users, and we would expect a large majority of them to just upgrade to the new version. That should make it the current target for jailbreak programmers in return.

According to initial previews, the new version of iOS fixes all currently known security vulnerabilities that allow for jailbreaking to occur, but of course it’s probably only a matter of time before users discover something new. It only takes one small vulnerability in order to open up the entire operating system, and considering how fast users have been in discovering these hacks so far, we can expect that it won’t take too long for the new version of the OS to be jailbroken.

Apple iOS 8.4

Of course, some would point to the current state of iOS 8.3 as an indication of the opposite, but this could be explained with the lower popularity of the OS version among hackers, due to the knowledge of the impending release of iOS 8.4. Not many experts put any serious effort into getting the OS cracked, and we expect to see more activity surrounding iOS 8.4

  1. Hopefully when iOS 8.4 is out, they will release the jailbreak straight away.Ive been jailed since 8.1.3

  2. i am considering just buying a used iphone 5 on ebay which will have ios7 and use that jailbreak for it and never upgrade again.

  3. I get that it takes insane effort to create a jailbreak, however this postponing has been in play since iOS 8.1.3, each time jailbreakers try the next version. In the olden days each one was jailbroken instead of the most popular version. I see that the security is tightning up and we need to keep vaunribilities a secret, but this whole mindset is consuming everyone, and in turn we live 60% of the time on our new iPhone 6 without a jailbreak. Just my 2cents

    1. 8.4 is the last update until IOS 9, so it’s smart for them to hold off until it’s released. Why jailbreak 8.3 when Apple could patch it immediately?
