‘Better Call Saul’ Season 3 Expects to Continue with the High Standard of Storytelling of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Says Bob Odenkirk!

The American crime drama TV series “Breaking Bad” on AMC became a legend in the TV community primarily because of the immersive storytelling of showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould that even at the end of five seasons of the show, fans and viewers were practically asking for more.

Fans were able to get their second servings alright in the form of the spin-off prequel series “Better Call Saul” which began to air also on AMC last year. The show had its successful Season 2 early this year and from the looks of it, Season 3 will continue to build on the gains of the first two seasons of the popular TV series.

In a recent interview, actor Bob Odenkirk, who plays the role of Jimmy McGill, said that he has no idea what Season 3 will hold for his character, alluding that he does not know when his character will officially transform into becoming Saul Goodman.

Odenkirk said that like him, fans and viewers of “Better Call Saul” should trust on the storytelling capabilities of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.

The actor said that what fans can get with “Better Call Saul” Season 3 is the continuation of the very high standard that both Gilligan and Gould have set for themselves.

He added that they all have to trust that the two will take the story somewhere because “Better Call Saul” is anchored on a well-crafted storytelling that does not need those bells and whistles to remind them of deadlines or put unnecessary pressure on them.

A mixture of the past and the future

There are also reports saying that “Better Call Saul” could actually become a mix of the past and future following rumors that Gilligan and Gould are looking at a few more stories to tell about Jimmy’s life after his stint as Saul Goodman in “Breaking Bad,” reports the Christian Daily.

According to speculations, Gilligan and Gould might try to mix things up a little bit more by featuring more of Jimmy’s new occupation as the saddest Cinnabon employee after “Breaking Bad.”

It can be recalled that “Better Call Saul” began with some clips featuring Saul trying to lay low as a regular employee after the “Breaking Bad” timeline.

During the Vulture Festival held recently, Peter Gould was asked whether characters of “Breaking Bad” are not destined to have happy endings. The co-showrunner said that anything is pre-determined, notes the Day Herald.

He recalled, in particular, the case of Mr. Chips in “Breaking Bad” who turned into Scarface. In “Better Call Saul,” it would be the turn of Jimmy McGill to transform into Saul Goodman. Gould, however, said that the transformation in “Better Call Saul” would be a different kind of journey instead of being an extreme one.

Slow-burning transformation

Before the Season 2 premiere of “Better Call Saul” in February this year, speculations were rife that the season will feature the transformation of Jimmy McGill into Saul Goodman.

After 10 episodes of Season 2 however, there was no transformation that materialized. If any, there seemed to be close calls but those were just about it.

The past two seasons of “Better Call Saul” showed how slow-burning the transformation of Jimmy is progressing and fans are looking forward to his evolution to Saul soon.

Better Call Saul Season 2

Reports have it now that it shall be in Season 3 where Jimmy McGill will finally transform into the slimy lawyer Saul Goodman. Although some reports say that the third season will feature the continuing metamorphosis of Jimmy into Saul.

However, since Gilligan, Gould, or the AMC has yet to make an official statement about it at this time, everything remains as speculation.

Besides, Season 2 of “Better Call Saul” just ended in April and Season 3 will not be happening until February next year.
