When the latest flagship smartphones of the Korean tech giant – the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – were launched in March and debuted to the retail markets in April, they generated positive feedbacks and reviews from consumers that they were even regarded as among the best, if not the best flagship smartphones in the market today.
But even the best smartphones have their downsides too and the Samsung flagships have a few of them.
Samsung’s use of glass cover for the back officially put an end to the era of the replaceable battery for the Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphones. There is also no more microSD card slot for additional memory expansion leaving users content with the internal storage capacities of the handsets coming out of the box.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are no longer waterproof devices, which was a key feature of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
While Samsung previously promised that it has done away with the bloatware, its new handsets still came with tons of it. There are still folders that have preloaded apps from Samsung, Google, Microsoft and the carrier. But at least, it is contained in a folder so users can just simply ignore them.
Overall however, the tradeoff was worth it since what came out are perhaps the best Android phones in the market today, if not the best smartphones in the retail markets.
New features of the cameras
Never did the cameras of the latest flagship smartphones of Samsung were included in the list of its downsides so now it rather came as a surprise that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge will freshen up the snappers of both handsets with cool new features.
According to Christian Today, the new software will enable the 16-megapixel rear-facing cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge to capture images in RAW format and enjoy the feature of shutter speed control.
There is also a new simplified pro mode which allows users to manually fine-tune the focus, ISO, exposure, and white balance of the resulting photos taken from the devices.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop also enables device users to adjust the exposure directly from the viewfinder of the camera app by simply dragging their finger up and down the screen until they get the desired amount of exposure before taking the photo. With this, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge have taken on the same feature of the iPhone.
More upsides
The new flagship smartphones of Samsung sport groundbreaking features that were an improvement on the iPhones that surely caught the attention of handset enthusiasts.
One of the key upgrades to Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that made them look really cool is the redesign of the phones from previous Samsung Galaxy S phones. The smartphones actually have more upsides down downsides.
As from the fact that the smartphones do look expensive, they also feature fast charging technology which means a 10-minute charge would already enable the handsets to continuously operate for four hours.
