Two members forgetting the lyrics to the group’s song while performing on stage, now that’s a sign of real trouble for the world’s famous boy band.
Apparently, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have an early bout of memory lapse that they actually forgot part of the lyrics of the song “Stockholm Syndrome” which their group One Direction recorded and sang in the past.
The rather unfortunate part of it all is that their goof up was very obvious as they were actually performing on stage as part of their concert tour in Osaka, Japan.
The two were singing gibberish while on stage as they join fellow members Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne in rendering “Stockholm Syndrome.” It was obvious that the two don’t know the lyrics and were just saying words to show to the crowd that they’re actually singing.
They were singing alright. But they were singing garbled lyrics that only the two of them can actually understand, points out the Inquisitr.
If there was any consolation to the gibberish singing of Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, it’s the fact that One Direction as a whole does not lip sync their songs during concert tours. They really sing it live.
Sign of trouble
While many of the millions of girl fans of the boy band really don’t mind or care that two members of their favorite British-Irish pop group have already forgotten the lyrics to one of the band’s songs, some music analysts believe that it is a sign of yet another trouble for 1D.
Even with the successful launch of their fourth studio album titled “Four” last November 2014, there have been rumors that One Direction has already reached its peak and will most likely be splitting soon.
The rumors were also being fanned by reports that members of the band no longer come together in one gig as a group, or worst, with one or two members really missing to appear at all.
Some of them have also ventured into other projects on their own outside of One Direction, in obvious preparation for the eventuality that the boy band splits up.
One of the most active in terms of doing solo gig is Harry Styles. He has been rumored to be planning to join the movies when his contract with 1D expires at the end of 2015. He also composed and recorded a song with Meghan Trainor, and he has been writing compositions for several groups and artists too.
No plans to split up yet
Simon Cromwell, the boy band’s manager, says that the group is not about to split up just yet.
He said that it’s okay if the band members take one or two projects on the side every now and then, but it should not be a reason for One Direction to split up.
Simon said that speculations about the impending split of the band always crop up every time one, two, or three of the band members go on solo gigs. He said that he advised his ward that it’s okay to take individual projects on the side but their main focus should still be with 1D because that’s their moneymaker.
