Xiaomi has released a new smartphone recently, but it was not the one that many were expecting to see on the market. The company brought the Mi Note Pro to the marketplace when consumers were hoping to see more of the Xiaomi Mi5 that has been rumored for a while now. It has been reproted by more than one Chinese publication that the Mi4 was going to be replaced soon and speculation was that it would be the Xiaomi Mi5.
Other rumors indicate that it could be replaced by the Mi4s, but images that were posted online are not showing any indication as to what company this new phone is coming from. One main feature that the rumors were circling around was the fact the that Xiaomi Mi5 was not going to have any bezels on the front side of the device, making the touch screen display span the entire distance of the front face.
This is not something that is brand new in the smartphone world, however, there are very few companies that have actually made a phone with the feature and brought it to the marketplace. The leaked images show a large smartphone with a huge display that appears to have no bezels and that is not helping the rumor sites out right now. Without the Mi branding that many would recognize, it is hard to tell if this phone is the one we have all been waiting for.
Even though the rumors and the leaked images show a phone without side bezels, it should be noted that the top and bottom of the display still feature the typical, thicker bezel. According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi5 will feature an all metal body, so you can expect it to be labeled a premium handset. The display is 5.7-inches in size and has a QHD resolution which is the new standard. Pixels per inch will blow away many of the smartphones on the international market with a whopping 515.
On the inside of the phone, it will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor from Qualcomm and that will be paired up nicely with 3GB of RAM to keep things moving along very nicely. Additional reports suggest that you will be able to buy the phone with two storage options, a 16GB model and a 64GB model. On the back side you will find a 16MP camera sensor with an 8MP sensor facing the front side. A 3600mAh battery should provide plenty of up time each day.
