Xbox Player First to Get New DLC for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare!

“Ascendance”, the next DLC for Activision’s “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, is almost here, but it’s recently been revealed that not all players are going to get to enjoy the new content at the same time. Those who’re playing on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be the first to get their hands on the new DLC – while players on the PlayStation 3, 4 and the PC will have to wait an extra month.

This has been said in a recent announcement, and it’s been a bit disappointing to the franchise’s community, but it’s still better than a delay on all platforms. Plus, the Xbox is the main platform for the game anyway, so it makes sense that Activision would want to pay extra attention to it. It could also be the case that the company wants to polish the content additionally before releasing it on other platforms, using the initial release as a test bed for bug fixes, but that wouldn’t make so much sense.

The new DLC will include four new maps – as all DLC packages for the franchise typically do – and it also introduces new content for the Exo Zombies mode. In it, players can take the role of John Malkovich, Bill Paxton and various other prominent names from the big screen. The DLC also costs $15 like other content packs for the game, and will be free for those who’ve purchased the season pass previously.

The four new maps will be quite diverse, and will broaden the horizons of the game’s style. First, we have “Perplex”, set in an apartment building and spanning over multiple levels. “Site 244” is a return to the classic three-lane map design, and will put players at the base of Mt. Rushmore. “Climate” is set within a “man-made utopia climate-controlled enclosure”, which sounds like an interesting setting; and last but not least, we have “Chop Shop”, which will take place in an industrial complex for illegal production of exoskeletons.

We’ll also get several new weapons with the new DLC, including a machine gun/shotgun combination, as well as the OHM Werewolf custom variant. In addition, players can now join the “Exo Grapple” playlist, where they can traverse the map using a grappling hook, or use it as a tool for killing their opponents. All in all, Activision are continuing to explore the more interesting angles for the franchise’s gameplay, something which they started with the initial release of this title, after lots of criticism that the series had become boring and unoriginal. So far, the new “Call of Duty” has definitely managed to spice things up and has become a fantastic entry into the line.
