The movie franchise began with the first film simply titled “X-Men” shown in 2001. With the May 27, 2016 showing of “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the third movie in the second trilogy beginning with “X-Men: First Class shown in 2011, the upcoming film will culminate the franchise on a very high note.
Based on latest reports, the relationship of Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen, and Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters would be more pronounced in the upcoming X-Men movie.
There was some hint in “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” shown last year that Quicksilver is actually the son of Magneto and it was mentioned by Quicksilver when he said that metal can be manipulated because his mother used to know a guy who could do that.
According to speculations, Director Singer will use “X-Men: Apocalypse” to cement the paternal relationship between Magneto and Quicksilver as part of the current X-Men trilogy cannon.
This is consistent with reports that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be Michael Fassbender’s final film outing in the franchise. On the other hand, Evan Peters as Quicksilver will be able to effectively take over from Magneto as the lead in the next movie.
Based on the last film, Quicksilver was a good guy but since he has the blood of Magneto running on his veins, there is no telling if he will also turn south eventually.
