According to speculations, Director Singer will use “X-Men: Apocalypse” to cement the paternal relationship between Magneto and Quicksilver as part of the current X-Men trilogy cannon.
This is consistent with reports that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be Michael Fassbender’s final film outing in the franchise. On the other hand, Evan Peters as Quicksilver will be able to effectively take over from Magneto as the lead in the next movie.
Based on the last film, Quicksilver was a good guy but since he has the blood of Magneto running on his veins, there is no telling if he will also turn south eventually.
There have been reports that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will also put closure on the four main character mutants in the franchise, namely Magneto, Professor X, Mystique, and the Beast.
It seems that the rumors have a leg to stand on as the way the franchise is going, it looks like the likes of Gambit, Quicksilver, Deadpool and Jubilee will take over as the franchise’s main mutant characters. But that would be an entirely different story.
What is consistent among all of the X-Men movies is Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who shall also have his third and final movie as the mutant character with blades coming out of his hands after the showing of “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
