The first trailer of the final movie in the second X-Men trilogy titled “X-Men: Apocalypse” due to hit global theaters on May 27, 2016 will get a massive audience for sure. Apparently, it is to be attached to the showing of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” when it comes out on cinemas on December 18.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is being hyped as the biggest blockbuster movie of 2015 and it is expected to topple “Jurassic World” for the title.
In fact, the immense success of “Jurassic World” when it came out to theaters in June this year has catapulted it into the third highest grossing movie of all time, next only to “Avatar” and “Titanic.” The movie grossed US $1,666.1 billion.
Critics believe that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has all the ingredients to topple “Jurassic World” and perhaps even give the second-running “Titanic” a run for the second spot in the list of all-time highest grossing movies. Some analysts have predicted that the seventh installment of the epic space opera can break the $2 billion box-office barrier.
“Titanic” comfortably sits on the second spot on the list of highest all-time grossing movies with its $2.186.8 billion haul.
Massive opening weekend
Given such scenario, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is expected to really get a big boost, promotions-wise, as the opening weekend of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is expected to be massive, reports Collider.
The Fox movie will also join “Captain America: Civil War” as the other major upcoming movie whose trailer will be attached to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
The attachment of the two movies’ trailers to the Star Wars film will go a long way in ensuring that they will get to the consciousness of theater audiences as movies to look forward to watching in May next year. “Captain America: Civil War” has a May 6, 2016 playdate.
It was actually X-Men franchise producer and co-writer Simon Kinberg who confirmed the scheduled showing of the first trailer of “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Kinberg confirmed that their first trailer will be attached to the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and that the teaser will be longer than a minute and shall feature a ton of cool stuff in it, details Cinema Blend.
The longest ‘X-Men’ movie to date
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is the final movie of the second X-Men trilogy that began with “X-Men: First Class” shown in 2011 and “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” shown last year.
In addition to featuring younger versions of the previous characters during the first X-Men trilogy, the second trilogy also featured more new and exciting mutants, with the exception of Wolverine, who is still being played by Hugh Jackman.
But the director said that the movie is long for a good number of reasons and the most important of them is the fact that “X-Men: Apocalypse” needs to effectively wrap up the entire series.
Singer said that the movie’s cuts are a little long, but the overall film is going to be a longer “X-Men” movie. He explained that in his past “X-Men” movies, he usually endeavor to keep it under two hours. However, he feels that it may not be the case for “X-Men: Apocalypse” because it actually wraps up a total of six movies.
Apart from being the longest “X-Men” movie ever according to Director Bryan Singer, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to become a glorious conclusion to 15 years of cinematic history.
The movie franchise began with the first film simply titled “X-Men” shown in 2001. With the May 27, 2016 showing of “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the third movie in the second trilogy, it will culminate the franchise on a very high note.
Based on latest reports, the relationship of Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen, and Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters would be more pronounced in the upcoming X-Men movie.
There was some hint in “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” shown last year that Quicksilver is actually the son of Magneto and it was mentioned by Quicksilver when he said that metal can be manipulated because his mother used to know a guy who could do that.
